Austin-based Fairbanks & the Lonesome team with producer Raymond Richards (Honey, Honey) on their latest full-length, Nothing To Escape, due August 25th. Principal songwriters (and married couple) Erik Flores and Amelia Rose Logan's songs are thoughtful, gritty, and elegant with many centering around Flores' old drinking habits and the excesses that come with addiction. Flores notes, "I quit drinking a couple years ago, right around the time we started making this record. That seems to be a big undercurrent." And while mostly sad, yet honest, life experiences are at the forefront of the story songs on Nothing To Escape, the album will leave you anything but, as Flores' rock & roll background, their vintage harmonies, and the full band keep this album brimming with melodies that will have you fancying a dance rather than a Daniels (well, maybe there's room for both).
With assist from Richards, Flores and Logan explore varied sonic landscapes from the serene pedal-steel fueled title track, which sees Logan taking lead on a tune about spiritual freedom, to the folk-soul of "Revelation," and further down the line with the 3/4 time of "I Strike Again" a tale about the waking realizations of a blackout drunk, and the spacious shuffler "Pieces."
Fairbanks & the Lonesome Light's Nothing To Escape is a varied landscape that is at once intimate, reflective, enchanting, desperate, and full of gravitas. TDC is excited to premiere Nothing to Escape which can be streamed in it entirety above. For more information visit HERE.
