Blitzen Trapper has built a solid reputation as a band unafraid to take chances. By incorporating a vast array of influences, they have released albums that touch on indie folk/rock, roots, art rock, alt country, psychedelia and pop, while maintaining a sound that is distinctly Blitzen Trapper. On their new studio effort, the group’s years of experimentation and experience have come full circle, culminating in their strongest, most cohesive work to date with the career milestone, All Across This Land. View new ALBUM TRAILER. Blitzen Trapper may have experimented successfully with a multitude of styles; however, the band has been built on a strong foundation as, above all else, a ROCK band. Their live shows consistently reinforce that fact, and those who have experienced their performance would agree. All Across This Land once again confirms that Blitzen Trapper possess the unique ability to create thoughtful, melodic, finely crafted songs on one hand, and deliver full throttle, infectious rock on the other. From the opening riff of the title track and first single, this is quite evident as it unfolds into a flurry of guitars, bass and drums. The band eases back as well by featuring some of lead singer and songwriter Eric Earley’s strongest writing yet, particularly on the semi-autobiographical “Mystery and Wonder”. The track’s reflective and nostalgic tone was inspired by the band’s beginnings, the chemistry that develops over time and the music they have created though the years. Another album highlight is “Lonesome Angel” with its easy ‘70’s AM radio feel. While All Across This Land features some of Earley’s finest songs to date, the rest of his bandmate’s performances – Erik Menteer (guitar), Michael Van Pelt (bass), Marty Marquis (guitar/keys), Brian Adrian Koch (drums) – elevate each track thus taking Blitzen Trapper to their highest artistic peak yet. Blitzen Trapper has announced a fall tour in support of All Across This Land, starting on September 19 in Richmond, VA. For updated news and tour information go to: http://www.blitzentrapper.net On September 18th, the Nashville-based, genre-bending songwriter Patrick Sweanywill release a new album Daytime Turned To Nighttime on the Austin-based Nine Mile Records. Today, Paste Magazine premiered "First Of The Week," the first single to be released from Sweany's 7th studio release. Writer Brian Rolli called the track "...a warm acoustic jam about forging your own path on the road and living with those consequences" that has "...a soulful vibe evocative of early-’70s Southern rock." “This is my grown-up record,” declares Sweany about Daytime Turned To Nighttime. In between long tours, Sweany and his wife bought their first home together. They spent all of their free time renovating it, while Sweany crammed in writing and recording in his downtime. I was feeling old. Feeling like I was turning the corner into adulthood. Settling into the next stage of life," described David Myles, Nova Scotia's award-winning acoustic crooner. "I was thinking if I'm gonna be an adult, I want to do it right. I don't want to go down a path of cynicism and unhappiness. So I wrote myself this little memo, reminding me to stay focused on the important stuff." The memo would go on to become "When It Comes My Turn," one of the featured songs on his official US debut album So Far set to be released on September 25 via Little Tiny Records. The Bluegrass Situation holds the exclusive premiere of the track today: LISTEN: David Myles - "When It Comes My Turn" via The Bluegrass Situation: http://ow.ly/PWSNP "Now I can't become that old cynical grump I may have one day become!" continued Myles. "I sing it at shows every night. The other interesting part of the song is that though I thought it would be mainly 20-somethings going through quarter life crises in mind that would feel a connection with the song, it's resonated most significantly with my parent's generation. Those who are transitioning into retirement or the later stages of life have really grabbed on to this song, and I'm so happy about that. Shows you that the word 'old' is such a perfectly relative term. It's all in how you think of it." So Far is a collection of David's songs over the years, re-recorded and re-imagined in an acoustic stripped down format evocative of the late '50's folk/roots/swing era with an energy that somehow combines the cool of Chet Baker with the ruckus of Chuck Berry. Myles has always been attracted to another time. Even as a young kid he felt the pull of history finding solace with artists such as Miles Davis and Sam Cooke. Today, Myles makes a living traversing musical time periods and genres, crisscrossing from folk, roots, jazz, and country while swinging between the forties, fifties, and sixties to 2015, with the flick of a wrist and the strum of a guitar. Listen to the album's first single "Need a Break" premiered exclusively on Diffuser. The youngest of four brothers, Myles grew up in a musical household on the east coast of Canada. Even though his parents were avid music lovers - the entire family played an instrument, working their way through the Royal Conservatory repertoire - they insisted that he seek higher education which landed him on the path to a political science degree. When studying Chinese in China with plans to go to law school, he began writing songs with a $30 red and green plywood guitar and started deviating from his education. He broke the news to his family that he'll be pursuing music full-time upon his return home and promised his disappointed father that he'd wear a suit to work every single day (hence why David wears suits when he performs). More than a decade later, Myles has a thriving career as a musician, hosts a CBCradio show called "East Coast Music Hour," and tours the country winning many accolades and awards. Of his many accomplishments, the most notable is his collaboration in 2013 with hip-hop artist Classified on the song "Inner Ninja," an anti-bullying song featuring kids in the chorus. It went on to become the best-selling rap single in the history of Canadian music, going quadruple platinum, and netted them a Juno for "Rap Recording of the Year."
