Independent singer-songwriter Alex Stern is premiering the brand new video for her song, “Runaways,” today, September 27th. The song, which chronicles a day of escape between two lovers who are enjoying one another and their freedom, was shot in Stern’s native New Mexico, in Tucumcari, two hours north of Albuquerque. Filmed over the course of one weekend, Stern says, “We gave ourselves a weekend and everything came together so flawlessly. Working on the video reminded me why I do what I do and how alive I feel creating things I believe in.” Of making the video Stern says, “It was such a full circle, and life changing, moment for me as a person, and as an artist, to be able to travel back home and embrace my roots, celebrate my heritage and show people what New Mexico is all about.” Further adding, “It was really important for me to make a video that was truly handmade, and was a complete expression of who I am and where I’ve come from.” The song, from her 2016 EP Midnight Bandits, was an easy choice for a video. “For me, this song was the one I had the visual idea for the day I was writing it, so when I was deciding to make a video, this song was the obvious choice.” “Runaways” is the love story of two people living in the moment and for me it was a dead giveaway to go to New Mexico and Route 66 to make a video that was not only unique, but authentic to who I am.” Featuring Stern and longtime friend EJ, the cinematic video was shot by videographer Randy Shaffer, who captured the undeniable beauty of New Mexico whether it is in the angle of the sun coming over the mesa, the open highway or the feel of a small town. Shaffer, says Stern, “captured the uniqueness of the landscape and the people” and in doing so makes you long for a runaway of your own. The video, which truly is a labor of love, can be viewed HERE. As for what’s next, Stern says, “I don’t know what comes next, but this is only the beginning. I’m so excited for what’s to come and know that whatever I do I am going to strive to be the best version of myself. I don’t expect anyone to give me anything. I’m not entitled to opportunity or people loving what I do. The only thing I have control over is my attitude, how I prepare myself and the type of people I surround myself with. I’m not a perfect person, but every day I try to wake up and ask what the one thing is that I can improve on to move forward. Life is all about progression, learning and putting yourself in uncomfortable situations. I went into making this video with an openness for new experiences, and I have never been more touched by the experience I had while filming this video.” (Nashville, Tennessee...Press Release) - September 27, 2016 -- Shooter Jennings recently announced the newly packaged and remastered version of his critically acclaimed groundbreaking album Black Ribbons: The Ultimate Edition to hit stores on Election Day, November 8, 2016. The incredible artists all came together to close the show with an impassioned rendition of Earle's song “Pilgrim.” Check out highlights from the show below: Margo Price and Emmylou Harris singing "Two More Bottles of Wine" Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris, Brothers Osborne, Margo Price and Colter Wall perform "Pilgrim" (Press Release) Kalamazoo, Michigan quintet Greensky Bluegrass' sixth studio album Shouted, Written Down & Quoted is out now on Big Blue Zoo/Thirty Tigers, with Denver Magazine calling it "their best work to date." Produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos, it's the follow-up to 2014’s If Sorrows Swim, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Bluegrass Albums chart, and comes on the heels of sold-out shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, The Ryman Auditorium, and a headlining performance at this year's New England Festy. In recent months,Billboard, American Songwriter and Relix all premiered songs from the album, and Pandora debuted the album a week before its release date. Like the band's name, Shouted, Written Down & Quoted is a collection of opposites, full of dark psychedelic swirls, bright bursts of acoustic guitar, soundscapes, solos, freethinking improvisation, and plenty of sharp, focused songwriting. It's wild and wide-ranging, showing off the diversity Greensky Bluegrass brings to every live show. At the same time, Shouted, Written Down & Quoted is unmistakably a studio album, recorded during two different sessions — one at Echo Mountain Studio in Asheville, North Carolina; the other at the Mountain House Recording Studio in Nederland, Colorado — that comprise the band's longest block of recording time ever. The result is an 11-track album whose songs cast a wide net, mixing the full-throttle energy of a Greensky Bluegrass concert with the nuanced approach of a band that's still eager to explore. "You can call us an acoustic ensemble, or a drum-less rock band, or a rock & roll bluegrass band," says mandolin player Paul Hoffman, who, along with guitarist Dave Bruzza, handles most of the album's writing duties. "All of that shifting identity has taught us to cover a lot of ground. There's a flow to this album, just like there's a flow to our setlists. There are some aggressive, rocking moments. Some bouncy, funky moments. An acoustic think piece or two. It's a balance of moods and textures that we create as a band, almost like a mix tape."
Shouted, Written Down & Quoted is avialable for purchase at Amazon and iTunes.
