October, 2016 (Nashville, TN Press Release) -- The alt-folk Colorado quartet of sisters known as SHEL has announced the release of its holiday EP, Winter Fairyland. The EP will be released on November 11, and is now available for pre-order at iTunes." This six-song collection contains three originals, and three classics including a cover of "Sleigh Ride" with an accompanying silhouette video created by the band that Guitar World called a "...beautifully crafted, Tim Burton-esque video..." SHEL has also announced a run of dates this November supporting Amos Lee. "A few years ago, we began the tradition of releasing an annual Christmas single beginning with 'Toyland,' which was one of the first songs I remember hearing," reflects SHEL's Eva Holbrook. "I like to imagine children and adults listening to these songs for the first time, and I hope they escape into the same beautiful realm we found while creating this EP."
This Winter Fairyland EP follows the release of SHEL’s second LP, Just Crazy Enough, independently released on May 13. Just Crazy Enough seamlessly blends the vocals and unique instrumentation from the four Holbrook sisters, Sarah (violin, vocals), Hannah (keys, synth, bass), Eva (mandolin, lead vocals), Liza (beatboxing, drums, djembe). Just crazy Enough was co-produced by Dave Stewart (member of the Eurythmics) and Grammy winner Brent Maher. London’s Clash Music premiered “Is The Doctor In Today” commenting that, "Together, they write songs that veer from acoustic balladry to beat boxing, displaying a wide-ranging originality…” Raised in Colorado, the four sisters that make up SHEL grew up in an old trailer park that their family restored and turned into a farm. Music, arts, and creativity were strongly encouraged in the Holbrook household, and that upbringing shines brightly in SHEL’s sound. SHEL music is many things sonically, but its coherence and distinctiveness comes from the sisters’ commitment to making every song an honest four-way collaboration.
