'American roots music, compellingly honest, beautifully crafted and fully realized songs that just happen to be in the Americana realm. Really good stuff.' - Dennis McNally Grateful Dead Publicist Steven Graves' five-piece all original Americana/California Country band has been expanding their audience Nationally through the release of their sixth CD titled Mission Bell and are celebrating an extremely successful year of national radio play and touring throughout the West coast. Having recently completed two rousing tours of Arizona this summer including their highlight performances at both the Tucson and Flagstaff Folk Festivals, the band is definitely on a roll. Currently, the band is ramping up to promote their new CD (their seventh) set to release in January t with extensive tours throughout Northern and Southern California, Oregon, Washington, and Arizona. Steven describes his "socially conscious" roots music: "We're kind of our own genre! I like to throw elements of country, folk rock, gospel and even reggae into the melting pot and see what emerges. We are all about authenticity and making music that is inspiring and helps people feel good....that's what its all about...music is the medicine…and its fun too!"
Steven puts a new and fresh spin on old-school country and folk rock grooves not only with stellar instrumentation (sax, electric and acoustic guitars, keys, drums, bass) and soaring vocal harmonies but also with a new age spiritualism that permeates most of his writing. He was nominated in 2013 for a Native American Music Award for his White Buffalo song (co-written with Ray Newkirk) and has worked closely with grassroots organizations helping Native American communities. One of Steven's biggest fans and advocates is Dennis McNally who worked with the Grateful Dead for more than 30 years. With McNally's help, the band has an ever growing presence in the Grateful Dead and jam band circles. Steven brings with him a group of seasoned veteran musicians that will have you dancing all night! While you won’t hear many covers from this band, their wide range of genre-bending original music will definitely seem familiar with comparisons to the Eagles, Grateful Dead and Neil Young not uncommon!
