My friend Kasey Stone and I decided to throw out our predictions for the CMT Music Awards, which will be held in Nashville at the Bridgestone Arena on June 4th. See who we think will win, and who we think should win. Be sure to leave your comments below. VIDEO OF THE YEAR Blake Shelton featuring Pistol Annies and Friends – “Boys ‘Round Here" Carrie Underwood – “See You Again” Eric Church – “Give Me Back My Hometown” Florida Georgia Line featuring Luke Bryan – “This Is How We Roll" Hunter Hayes – “I Want Crazy" Kacey Musgraves – “Follow Your Arrow" Keith Urban with Miranda Lambert – “We Were Us" Luke Bryan – “That’s My Kind of Night" Miranda Lambert – “Automatic" Taylor Swift – “Red" Thomas Rhett – “It Goes Like This" Tim McGraw with Taylor Swift and Keith Urban – “Highway Don’t Care” TARA Who Will Win: My first guess is to say “Highway Don’t Care” because (as I have said before) everyone loves a good PSA. However, since these awards are based on fan votes, I am going to say FGL, whose fans are the demographic CMT is focused on these days, takes this one home. Who should win: Eric Church. Even though I still don’t totally understand what he was trying to achieve with his mini movie, I have to give him mad props for creativity. No one else out there like him right now. KASEY Who Will Win: Most likely either “Highway Don’t Care” or “This Is How We Roll” – Luke and FGL combined have a huge fan voting base and I am sure many will vote in these awards. “Highway Don’t Care” has been incredibly popular throughout the past few award shows and the message behind the video itself has drawn a lot of people in. Who Should Win: Got to be Keith and Miranda. Love the track and the video has that party feel that is so popular but without being boring or equally over the top. MALE VIDEO OF THE YEAR Blake Shelton – “Doin’ What She Likes” Eric Church – “Give Me Back My Hometown" Hunter Hayes – “I Want Crazy" Jason Aldean – “Night Train" Luke Bryan – “Crash My Party" Randy Houser – “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight" TARA Who Will Win: Well, it won’t be Eric because his fans have never been into voting (and I am one of them), so I will venture that Luke takes the award because when this video came out all I saw on social media was how [insert positive adjective here] it was to have Luke’s wife Caroline in the video. Who Should Win: Eric Church (see previous reasoning). KASEY Who Will Win: I think this will come down to fan base size, it’ll be close between Blake and Luke – with Blake getting the edge. Who Should Win: Got to agree with Tara here, Eric Church is definitely the best video here. Yes it may have completely confused fans and press alike however it’s probably one of the best songs on his album in my opinion and the video goes really with it – got to give him points for creativity! FEMALE VIDEO OF THE YEAR Carrie Underwood – “See You Again" Cassadee Pope – “Wasting All These Tears" Kacey Musgraves – “Follow Your Arrow" Miranda Lambert – “Automatic" Sheryl Crow – “Easy" Taylor Swift – “Red” TARA Who Will Win and Who Should Win: Carrie Underwood. I’m not even considering Taylor, Sheryl and Cassadee have a chance with the three women they are up against. Miranda’s video was nostalgic. Kacey’s video could have been so much more. Carrie did justice to the song and tugged at the heartstrings. KASEY Who Will Win: Going to be an interesting category – the fan voting aspect could just tip Taylor over the edge and give her the win. Unfortunately don’t think Cassadee or Sheryl have got a chance and Kacey doesn’t seem as concerned about awards like this so I think her fans will feel the same. This is between Taylor, Carrie and Miranda with either a Taylor or Miranda win. Who Should Win: Miranda Lambert – I never seem to actually want Miranda to win but I LOVE “Automatic”, the best song she’s released in years in my opinion. The nostalgic feel of the video works really well against the track and takes the viewer on a journey from start to finish. I would also be happy for Carrie to win with the touching military infused video however Miranda is my first choice winner. GROUP VIDEO OF THE YEAR Eli Young Band – “Drunk Last Night" Lady Antebellum – “Compass" Little Big Town – “Your Side Of The Bed" Rascal Flatts – “Rewind" The Band Perry – “Done" Zac Brown Band – “Sweet Annie” TARA Who Will Win: “Drunk Last Night” was a party in a bar, “Compass” was a party in a field. “DONE” I just didn’t get, even though I really like the song. My best guess is that Lady A wins with their colorful nod to following your heart. Who Should Win: Zac Brown Band for letting the fans into a very private moment: the wedding of Coy Bowles and his bride Kylie. KASEY Who Will Win: Most likely Lady Antebellum’s “Compass”. The poppy feel to the track works well with the video and their hit “Downtown” won last year, which shows their fans do vote. Who Should Win: 100% Little Big Town. “Your Side Of The Bed” is a brilliant video and captures the song really nicely and the last few moments of the video are a real goosebump moment. If you take the radio response to the track in to the song it may struggle to win video but they undoubtedly deserve it. DUO VIDEO OF THE YEAR Dan + Shay – “19 You + Me" Florida Georgia Line – “Round Here" Florida Georgia Line – “Stay” Thompson Square – “Everything I Shouldn’t Be Thinking About” TARA Who Will Win: Is this even up for debate? With two videos in the category, FGL will win hands down. Who Should Win: Thompson Square. The video is just well done and adorable. KASEY Who Will Win: Well considering there’s only four nominees and two of which are FGL, it’s going to be them, most likely for “Stay”. Bearing in mind their huge fan base and positive critical reception as well. Who Should Win: Definitely Thompson Square, they are such an underrated duo and the video is great! BREAKTHROUGH VIDEO OF THE YEAR Brett Eldredge – “Beat Of The Music" Cassadee Pope – “Wasting All These Tears" Cole Swindell – “Chillin’ It" David Nail – “Whatever She’s Got” Thomas Rhett – “It Goes Like This" Tyler Farr – “Redneck Crazy” TARA Admittedly, I had not seen 4/6 of these nominees videos, so I took a look see. Who Will Win: Honestly a tough call. I am going to go with Tyler Farr. His video seemed to be a love it or hate it type of thing on social media, but those polarizing views only made more people take a look. Funny and filled with lots of cameos, while the rest were just “fine.” Who Should Win: While I like some of these songs, I do not feel any of these videos are truly award worthy, so whoever wins is fine by me. KASEY Who Will Win: Hard one, these songs have been big for each of the artists. The most buzz in social media seems to be in support of Cassadee or Brett, I’m thinking Cassadee might just win. Who Should Win: Admittedly Brett’s, David’s, Cole’s and Thomas’ videos have the same kind of theme but I LOVE “Beat Of The Music” so I would have to give it to Brett – be great to see him win something! COLLABORATIVE VIDEO OF THE YEAR Blake Shelton featuring Pistol Annies and Friends – “Boys ‘Round Here” Florida Georgia Line featuring Luke Bryan – “This Is How We Roll" Florida Georgia Line featuring Nelly – “Cruise (Remix)” Hunter Hayes featuring Jason Mraz – “Everybody’s Got Somebody But Me" Keith Urban with Miranda Lambert – “We Were Us" Tim McGraw with Taylor Swift and Keith Urban – “Highway Don’t Care” TARA Is this category redundant? Four out of six of these nominees are also up for Video of the Year. Who Will Win: Boy, with the fans voting it is a tough call between FGL and FGL. Who Should Win: “Highway Don’t Care” because it is, in fact, a good video. KASEY Who Will Win: Completely agree with Tara’s comment, not much new here! To be honest it’s probably going to be “Highway Don’t Care” – that seems to be winning everything it possibly can at the moment. Stiff competition from FGL though. Who Should Win: As with Video Of The Year, I’m sticking with “We Were Us”. Keith and Miranda play off each other well and there’s a lot of energy throughout the video. CMT PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR Dierks Bentley and One Republic – “Counting Stars” from CMT Crossroads: OneRepublic and Dierks Bentley Jake Owen – “Days Of Gold” from CMT Hot 20 Countdown Lady Antebellum and Stevie Nicks – “Rhiannon” from CMT Crossroads: Stevie Nicks and Lady Antebellum Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie – “Oh No/All Night Long” from 2013 CMT Artists of the Year The Band Perry and Fall Out Boy – “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark” from CMT Crossroads: Fall Out Boy and The Band Perry Willie Nelson and Neil Young – “Long May You Run” from CMT Crossroads: Willie Nelson & Friends from Third Man Records TARA Who Will Win and Who Should Win: Dierks and One Republic. Not even a discussion. KASEY Who Will Win and Who Should Win: Completely agree – “Counting Stars” is a great track and Dierks works really well with One Republic You can find Kasey at @kasey_stone_ on Twitter and her writing at www.hittingalltherightnotes.com You can find Tara on Twitter @TheDailyCountry and on the web right here.

My most favorite CMT 2015 award winner is the Lady Antebellum for the “Bartender.” This music video is super funny, with lots of happy people because of that great bartender. It was a boring Friday night which turned up really well because of the drinking shots. But before you get carried away drinking the night away, you better watch out the amount of alcohol you are consuming. In a paper written by George Dowall and Henry Wechsler, most studies that center on college drinking do not look into the influence of the college and the surrounding environment where students roam around. Better research designs are in order along with an expanded issues of scope to better understand and address college drinking in general.
