Their albums are always in rotation, but this past week I've been on a Whiskey Myers bender (not a bad thing!). So I thought, why not make Early Morning Shakes the subject for the Do You Have This Album? feature. Without a doubt, EMS is a southern rock record, but it also incorporates country, soul and the blues for good measure. It's an album that finds the band's musicianship, and songwriting, more finely tuned than ever. Cannon's vocals are gruff and dirty when they need to be ("Where The Sun Don't Shine") and gentle on others ("Shelter From The Rain"); either way, they're always believable. In addition to eleven new tracks, they also more than adequately cover, and put their own spin on, "Need A Little Time Off For Bad Behavior." There are a few tracks that might run a little long for some ears (over 5 minutes), but instead of skipping them, just sit back and immerse yourself in the music. Their current single "Dogwood" is climbing the Texas charts and really, should be a crossover hit. Track Listing: 1. Early Morning Shakes 2. Hard Roe to Hoe 3. Dogwood 4. Shelter From The Rain 5.
