 Courtesy: No Problem Marketing Named one of Spotify’s Spotlight on 2016 Country Artists, Dylan Scott has been garnering the attention of country fans with his singles “Makin’ This Boy Go Crazy” and “Crazy Over Me." On August 12th, Scott released his self-titled debut album which contains thirteen tracks including the popular single, "My Girl." In the midst of a whirlwind couple of weeks which included a performance on the Grand Ole Opry, Scott kindly answered a few questions via email about the album, touring and more. Country music was part of your upbringing, but your music also showcases a wide variety of styles. Who do you look to as influences, in country and beyond? Keith Whitley was my Elvis you could say, but at the same time I grew up listening to everything!! Maroon Five, Lil Wayne, Usher, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, etc. Your new album released August 12th, did you have a hand in writing the songs? And if there are ones that you did not write, what drew you to them? I wrote a little over half the album. [The ones I didn't write] just spoke to me. I heard them and immediately related, and knew I wanted to record them.  My favorite songs from the album are “Living Room” and “I Lost You.” Can you choose one and share the story behind it?
“Living Room” is also one of my favs! It's just so pure and true. People say, "You don't know what you have until it's gone". Such a true statement. That's what this song is about. It seems you have an incredibly busy touring schedule. Have you been performing these songs live and if so how has the reaction from fans been? I've been performing a few songs from the new album. I’m really waiting for the release to start cranking out more in the live show. BUT, the new ones that we are currently performing, it's incredible the reaction I get. People singing along is always the ultimate thrill as a performer! Do you have anything special planned around the album release? We're so busy I don't have time to do much, but I'm going back to my town’s Walmart and doing a meet and greet. Releasing an album is a pretty big milestone. Is there any other thing you want to accomplish professionally in the next year? I’d love to have a single break the Top 20 or Top 15. #1 would be amazing…. You recently played the Opry and had “Chewbacca Mom” join you. How did you connect with her? And are you really taking her on tour? I'm taking her out on the 17th, to show her what a day in the life of Dylan Scott is, LoL. And then we end up at a show that night in Houston. It'll be a fun day! Finally, I always like to know - is there any recent release that you cannot stop listening to?
