NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Press Release) – On Thursday, September 28th, multi- platinum selling country artist and Texas native, Mark Chesnutt, was presented the first ever Trailblazer Award along with a Thank You Plaque for serving as a Spoken-person for the Texas Country Music Association (TCMA) at their 2017 awards ceremony. Though Chesnutt was unable to attend due to an unexpected illness, his good friend and co-writer Roger Springer accepted the award in his honor.

"It was unfortunate that Mark got ill and could not make it to the Awards show. “said Linda Wilson, founder of the TCMA. “He was missed, but the Finalists and Award Recipients along with amazing performances made the 2017 Texas Country Music Awards show an evening that will go down in history."

Mark was heavy hearted that he could not attend the event, but was thrilled that Roger Springer, co-writer of the #1 singles “It’s a Little Too Late” and “Thank God For Believers” was there to accept it in his place.

“I am very sorry to have missed such a special event,” Chesnutt said. “Receiving the Trail Blazer award from my home state is such an honor, and I am thankful for my friend Roger Springer for accepting it in my absence.”

The TCMA is an organization dedicated to the promotion and support of both established and new artists, songwriters and musicians from Texas, as well as those who perform in the state. Chesnutt doubles as spokesperson for Texas Country Cares, the TCMA’s charity, which will show the support of the music community in times of need throughout the state.

The Texas Country Music Association, Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization with 501c3 status and donations are tax deductible. To join, donate or for more information visitwww.texascountrymusic.org.
