Penned by Zac Maloy and Boots Ottestad, this call-and-response patterned love song features constant lyrics that match the electric guitar beat for beat. Told from the eyes of a couple in love, Johnston hopes this is the next Texas Country duet everyone will be singing for years to come! "Damn, I Want a Love Like That" is being promoted by Dorothea Ivey of Cabin Creek Promotions. A last minute, and rather unexpected, add to the EP, IT TAKES TIME, Johnston originally recorded "Damn, I Want A Love Like That" as a demo being pitched to Carrie Underwood. Realizing there was something missing on her own record, she notes that this song kept coming up on her radar. Deciding it was "the one" to round off the 6-song selection, she chose to give it "dimension" by making it a duet with Isaac. "I have always loved this song but when we decided to make it a duet it came to life," said Johnston. "It's a different vibe than the last few singles I've put out and I'm excited for everyone to hear a different side. Plus, Jordon Isaac's vocals are simply amazing and bring that extra something to an already magical song!" ![]()
In a crowd of people, Dave Richardson is more than likely to be the quietest one in the room. Thrifty with his words, and soft-spoken, music became his voice of expression at an early age. A self-taught guitarist, he was instantly drawn deep into the rich catalog of traditional and contemporary folk music; the instrumentation, the storytelling, the people, the history, and the use of music as a platform to speak out. His debut album Carry Me Along (Release date: Feb. 23, 2018) finds Richardson weaving together those threads with a collection of originals and timeworn tunes, inspired by song collectors and re-interpreters like Jean Ritchie, Pete Seeger, and Martin Carthy.
Today, TDC is incredibly pleased to premiere one of the album's cuts, "Front Porch Time." Penned by Richardson, the welcoming track is led by a gentle acoustic guitar, reserved backbeat, and Richardson's distinct and undeniably comforting vocals which offer respite and breathe a beautiful calm. Pair "Front Porch Time" with a glass of wine or whiskey and you'll find your troubles will float away. "You're burnt out, beat up, fit to self-destruct Well just hold tight, it's just about that time" Richardson relays the story behind the track, “I wrote Front Porch Time in Maine on a friend’s porch. It speaks to the importance and power of music as an aid to reset and restore. The aim was to transport the listener to the feeling of returning home after being out in the world: unwinding and settling down." (Press Release)— When Don Gibson signed to Hickory Records in 1970, he was already a weathered music industry veteran, successful songwriter and compelling performer. Sixteen of his singles on RCA Victor with producer Chet Atkins reached the country Top 10 between 1958 and 1969, but by the end of the 1960s, his album sales were dwindling. Gibson joined Hickory Records, part of Nashville’s Acuff-Rose publishing empire, at the invitation of executive Wesley Rose, who had first signed him to a publishing deal at Acuff-Rose in 1955. Already serving as Don’s manager and publisher, Rose would now be Don’s producer and label head too. For the first time ever, Don Gibson’s most popular singles of the 1970s will be chronicled with The Best of the Hickory Records Years (1970-1978), to be released by Omnivore Recordings on April 13, 2018. The date coincides with the 90th anniversary of Gibson’s birth (April 3, 1928) and the 60th anniversary of his Grand Ole Opry induction (April 12, 1958). |
