(Press Release) On the heels of the album release tour for Shanti’s Shadow, Brooklyn singer-songwriter Phoebe Hunt is sharing a message of healing through music in her TEDx Talk, Sing Your Pain Away: Songs Written With War Veterans. The talk expresses a universal truth that by sharing the story of one’s pain and trauma through song, one experiences healing.

In her TEDx Talk given on Veterans Day, Hunt shares her personal experience as a musician, and how through meeting music as a teacher, she was led to premonitions and life guidance. Hunt learned to listen to the music within and soon learned to share this approach with others, creating space for them to find their inner songs. This talk explores the idea that it is the very nature of humanity to long to be witnessed in the expression of our deepest traumatic experiences.

Out Now: Johnny Dango's 'Dear Everybody, I Love You'

1/22/2018

Austin, TX-based psych/Americana artist Johnny Dango has released his highly anticipated new LP, Dear Everybody, I Love You. Dango's music is a confluence of country and rock, with a hefty sense of self-satire covering all of tornado alley, from the folky roots of Stillwater to the gospel soul of Tulsa.

On his new album Dear Everybody, I Love You, he battles with the concept of time, and questions his efficacy as a songwriter. He asks out loud whether playing barroom rock is the sole benefit he's meant to provide, or if this is just another vanity project keeping the news cycle of elections and reality television alive. He's made sure to examine himself with as much humor as he has the world around him.

Dango tells stories like a philosopher asking life's important questions. His songs are country western koans, meditative riddles that may pave the way to enlightenment, though they have no right answer....even Dango is just now coming to understand what a couple of the songs are about. "Laughing Larry's Longer Lament" begins with electric slide guitar, and emotive piano chords. Johnny sings "Ain't nothing much new happening under the sun / It's just a life we all live til we're done". It was written five years ago, and came to Johnny all at once on his porch over morning coffee, after one of his last visits with his 101 year old grandmother. "I thought it was terrible that she'd lived so long and then in the end got cancer," he says, now realizing the song was a cathartic release, a helplessness blues about the futility we've all met with.  At six minutes long the song is so relatable you never want it to end. Check out the song, a personal favorite, above.

Dear Everybody, I Love You is out now.

“Round Here Buzz,” the Fourth Hit From Mr. Misunderstood, Goes No. 1 on Country Charts as Star Announces He Will Perform at 2018 GRAMMY Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Bucking convention hasn’t always been the popular path, but for Eric Church there is no question about where he prioritizes his relationship with his fans. He showed this when he sent his 2015 album, Mr. Misunderstood, to members of his fan club, dubbed the Church Choir, before surprise announcing it at the 2015 CMA Awards and putting it on sale to the public. It is a model that, although untraditional, has developed a steadfast audience of devoted Choir members earning RIAA Platinum certification for Mr. Misunderstood, allowing the fourth single from the album, “Round Here Buzz” to reach No. 1 on the Country Airplay Charts and making way for Church to perform at the 2018 GRAMMY Awards.

The 2016 CMA Album of the Year’s Platinum certification for sales in excess of 1 million units directly shows fans’ connection to the distinct story line of the album that started with the lead single and title-track, “Mr. Misunderstood.” The video of the single features a real teenager, Mickey Smay, who is a musically inclined 14-year-old from Rochester, NY to carry the album’s theme. Fans then followed along as Church released RIAA Platinum-certified and GRAMMY-nominated No. 1 song “Record Year,” the song AXS called “one of the most important singles” Church has put out, “Kill A Word,” and current single “Round Here Buzz” that also features Smay in its video.
