Old Crow Medicine Show will release the single “Flicker & Shine” on 1/19. Click HERE to listen to a preview of the song.

Nashville, TN (Press Release) — Grammy award-winning American Roots band Old Crow Medicine Show has announced the release of their upcoming album Volunteer, due out April 20, 2018 via Columbia Records Nashville. The album was recorded at the historic RCA Studio A and produced by Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson). Since the release of their last Grammy-winning studio effort Remedy, Old Crow Medicine Show has taken their versatility to another level, by not only reinterpreting Bob Dylan’s seminal album Blonde On Blonde, but also collaborating with pop sensation Kesha. Volunteer is yet another fine example of how Old Crow Medicine Show remains one of the most vibrant and forward thinking traditional bands of their time.

The songs on Volunteer illustrate themes that resonate far beyond Old Crow Medicine Show’s diverse fan base, while also showcasing the depth in the group's songwriting. An album highlight “Look Away” inspired by The Rolling Stones, is Ketch Secor’s homage to his love for the history, both sorrowful and joyful, of the South. "A World Away” is an upbeat homage to refugees, an extremely relevant subject matter that Secor has been writing about since he was young. “Dixie Avenue” pays a playful tribute to the Virginia location where Secor and bandmate Fuqua fell in love with music. The album’s final track, the bittersweet love song “Whirlwind”, could easily tell the tale of how Old Crow Medicine Show built a successful career from the ground up.

January 16, 2018 - It’s been nearly 20 years since Lucinda Williams melded roots, rock and country into the Grammy-winning classic Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. For the album’s anniversary, Jimbo Mathus (Squirrel Nut Zippers) took on the challenge of interpreting it on solo blues guitar for Solo Sounds. As described by Mathus, “This one is my favorite so far. Solo blues guitar with no vocals, no overdubs, in super hi-res sound quality. These are really hard to do but very cool to listen to.” Listen to the album here.

Brooklyn-based Solo Sounds specializes in intimate recordings of iconic songs and albums performed by one musician on a single instrument. All titles are meticulously produced by label co-founder Eric Ambel (Nils Lofgren, Steve Earle, Joan Jett) and his team at Cowboy Technical Services. Scott Ambrose Reilly is the other co-founder and The Orchard is a partner in the label. Stereophile tells the story of how the label got started in their December issue, “Solo Sounds: The Power of One”.

New York, NY (January 17, 2018 Press Release) – Nashville’s Caitlin Canty announces the March 30 release of Motel Bouquet on Tone Tree Music with the haunting “Take Me For A Ride”. The track debuted at American Songwriter, who says, "
It’s a mesmerizing number, Canty’s low, incandescent vocals anchored by a gentle guitar twang and gossamer pedal steel." Motel Bouquet is available for pre-order, along with a wide variety of exclusive items and bundles atPledgeMusic. Tour dates start March 17 in Santa Monica and extend through the spring. A full list of tour dates can be found below with more to be added.

Produced by Punch Brothers banjoist Noam Pikelny and featuring a band of some of Nashville’s finest musicians,Motel Bouquet is true American roots — ten original songs carving a line through spare folk, dark blues and country ballads that hold Caitlin’s darkly radiant voice in the spotlight. It's an album written on the move — in airplanes, motels, backstage, and upon uprooting herself and leaving behind the hard concrete of New York City for the green edges of Nashville. Canty wrote these songs while looking back at loss, falling in love, and building a new life.

(Press Release) Lindi Ortega "has always been the sonic embodiment of the red cowboy boots she's often seen wearing: a fiery and dramatic take on modern country that's impossible to ignore" (Rolling Stone Country), and her fifth studio record 'Liberty' is no exception. Due out March 30, 2018, Ortega wrote roughly half of the twelve tracks solo, and enlisted co-writers Aaron Raitiere, Bruce Wallace and John Paul White (The Civil Wars) for the rest. The result is a three-part concept album reflecting loss, seance, resurrection and freedom.

The journey from darkness is told from a crowd of unsavory characters in "You Ain't Foolin' Me" and even a lost love from childhood in "Til My Dyin Day." Then grief turns to desperation in "Nothing's Impossible" and "The Comeback Kid." However, the tides begin to turn on "Darkness Be Done," and about halfway through, with "Forever Blue," the character makes a choice to follow the light.

Listen Up: R. Finn "I Am A Soldier"

Following a two-year stint working with The Band's Levon Helm at his studio in Woodstock recording the famous Midnight Rambles, R. Finn returned to Los Angeles and started his own recording studio and creative space, The Heritage Recording Co. It was in that studio that Finn recorded his debut LP, Collecting Trip—a ten-track collection of timeless Americana that finds the singer-songwriter channeling influences from Woody Guthrie to Leon Russell. Co-produced by legendary drummer Jim Keltner (Bob Dylan, Neil Young, John Lennon), Collecting Trip is an ode to the singer-songwriter's (nee Chris Rondinella) deep dive into folk and Americana and features contributions from Benmont Tench (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers), Sean & Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek), and more.
A heartfelt album colored by subtle, lush, haunting, and hopeful arrangements, the album represents the years of accumulating songs, players, and styles that have resulted in his affecting, long-evolving sound and lyrics which explore relationships and his worldview. Today, Finn shares one of the album's tracks entitled, “I Am Soldier." The hard-edged, yet meaningful tune is led by Finn's airy vocals and assisted by softly muted percussion, somber keys, and guitar riffs that lend tension to the track. "I am a soldier in an unknown army/just a peaceful fighter in an endless war."

NPR World Cafe premiered the video for "Blame On Me": http://n.pr/2D8kJgH

BOSTON, Mass
. — “Some might call me that,” muses Chris Smither, or one might simply say that the world is lucky because Smither’s songwriting and touring can stand the test of time. A songwriter, guitarist, bluesman, interpreter and performer for more than 50 years, Chris Smither has proven himself an American original.  Recorded at the gorgeous Blue Rock Studio in Texas’ hill country, just outside Austin in Wimberley, Smither’s 18th album, titled Call Me Lucky, due out March 2, 2018 on Signature Sounds/Mighty Albert, distributed by Redeye, is the artist’s first studio recording of brand new originals in six years. Once again Smither turned to his long-time producer and multi-instrumentalist David Goodrich, drummer Billy Conway (Morphine), Matt Lorenz (a.k.a. The Suitcase Junket), and engineer Keith Gary. The four musicians went into the session to record ten songs. What they ended up with is a double record: Disc 1 features the eight originals and two covers they started with; Disc 2 catapults the very same songs — with what life-long fans may know as the Smither sound — into another dimension, featuring very different arrangements.

LONDON, UK - Friday Jan 12th 2018 (Press Release): London based, American-Israeli duo O&O’s debut single ‘Traveling’ was one of the highlights of the UK’s homegrown country/Americana scene in 2017, with support across the media, from inclusion on Chris Country’s new music list to the ‘Best of August’ playlist by Richer Unsigned. Having grown their fanbase further through a summer of live appearances and online videos, racking up thousands of followers and over 100,000 views on their Youtube channel in the process, the duo return on January 26th 2018 with their brand new single ‘Some Days’.

Inspired to write the song during a month-long stay in Nashville - where they performed at multiple venues including the legendary Bluebird Cafe - Orian and Obadiah returned to England to record the single in Liverpool, the city where they originally met. In their own words: “Being a couple, as well as musical partners, of course inspires many love songs, and in this case, a song about the more challenging moments in a relationship. ’Some Days’ was recorded over three, intense days and the lyrics were being tweaked right up until we recorded the vocals.” For more information, visit www.oandoduo.com.
