Song Premiere: Countryside Ride "I Hope He Breaks Your Heart"

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Countryside Ride are prepping to release their forthcoming sophomore album, I Hope He Breaks Your Heart. The fourteen-track collection of tunes finds the band doing what they do best: playing ole' fashioned country, honky-tonk, hillbilly, and western swing.

The quintet - Ervin Lien (lead vocals, rhythm guitar),  Josh Kunze (lead Telecaster guitar, vocals), Jessica Kunze (stand-up bass, vocals), Johnny Payola (drums, vocals), and Ian Miller (pedal-steel) - mix seven classic country songs (by the likes of Johnny Horton, Willie Nelson, Hank Cochran, and Billie Shaver) with seven originals to create a record that sounds like it is straight out of the golden era of honky-tonk and western swing.

Today, TDC is pleased top premiere the album't title track, an original penned by Lien who had this to say about the tune,

"I wrote a song called 'I Hope He Breaks Your Heart,' and I thought the phrase, being something that a person might think, as opposed to actually say, was interesting. 'I Hope He Breaks Your Heart' is a simple, straight-forward country song, but it's a song that conveys an emotion or feeling that I believe anyone who has had their heart broken can relate to."

Led by pedal steel, the twang of a guitar, and Lien's classic vocals, the mid-tempo, unabashedly honest "I Hope He Breaks Your Heart" speaks the truths that many of us have thought one time or another after experiencing the pain of heartache.

"I hope you fall for him, the way I fell for you
And when he lies you believe him, the way that I did you
Now when he leaves you for another, I hope you fall apart"
