(Press Release) On March 25th, the Orlando, Flordia-based singer songwriter Terri Binion will release The Day After The Night Before, her first album in over fourteen years. This collection of 11 songs summarizes her journey, or attempt rather, at finding some sense of normalcy after enduring a year that saw the tragic loss of her wife, along with both parents, and an aftermath that included a long and unsuccessful bid for justice due to a legal system still struggling to recognize same sex marriage.

Southern Living premiered "Long Way Back," the album's opening track, and said Binion "writes her folksy Americana ballads with deep-seeded honesty... you'll want to put this song on repeat."

“Sometimes we don’t know how rich the moment is until it has passed – when you can no longer see these people and places in the rear view mirror, until we are back on safe ground, or until grief has lessened," says Binion about the song. "This particular journey that is all of these experiences turned into a book of songs was extraordinary, devastating and glorious.  I hope you’ll put this one in your car and go for a long drive on a clear road."

On May 3, 2011, Terri Binion's wife was killed in an accident while working on the set of a Cirque du Soleil set in Florida. The tragedy was detailed in feature for Orlando Weekly. Because Binion and her partner were married in the state of California, she could not seek any legal recourse in the state of Florida, who did not recognize same sex marriage at the time.

The Day After The Night Before chronicles Binion's personal journey through her pain and loss, while instilling a sense of true love and hope. With each of her previous releases, Leavin’ This Town and Fool, she has demonstrated a knack for clear-eyed honesty and a deep understanding of the human condition.

Over the course of her twenty-year career, Terri Binion has built a devoted fan base that happens to include Lucinda Williams (who sang on Binion’s last album, 2004’sFool), Jim White (who penned a heartfelt bio that appears on her website), and songwriting legend Jimmy Webb (who, in his biography, singled out Binion as one of the most promising songwriters working today).

Terri Binion lives in Orlando, FL where she is also an acclaimed costumer for film, television and theater. With The Day After the Night Before, she has created a body of work that seems impossible to overlook. While she is hopefully one of the last casualties of a wrongheaded system that has marginalized same sex couples throughout history, there are still miles to go.
