Karen & the Sorrows are back with a new full-length album, The Narrow Place (due August 25th). Like any roots band, The Sorrows sing about heartbreak and loss - they just take the back roads less traveled to get there. 

The Sorrows’ sound centers around singer-songwriter Karen Pittelman’s high, lilting vocals and Elana Redfield’s lonesome pedal steel guitar mixed with the dark twang and steady beat of the 1970s country-rock the band grew up on. Pittelman, Redfield, and drummer Tami Johnson formed the Brooklyn-based band in 2011. In 2012 they released the EP Ocean Born Mary about a ghost story from Redfield’s New Hampshire hometown. In 2014, they put out their first full-length record, The Names of Things, which was voted one of the Freeform American Roots Chart’s best debut albums of the year. A constant fixture in New York’s clubs and bars, the Sorrows have continued to build a strong local following as well as touring throughout the east coast from New England to New Orleans.

The Sorrows are also at the center of a growing queer country scene, creating a community for people who love country music even if country music doesn’t always love them back. For the last six years, they’ve run Brooklyn’s Gay Ole Opry Festival and the Queer Country Quarterly. “Now more than ever, we are grateful to be in community with so many amazing musicians,” Pittelman says. “Country music can tell compelling stories about family, love, heartbreak, and strength. Those stories should include all of our families, all of our love, and especially all of our heartbreak and our strength.”

The new EP produced and co-written in Belgium by acclaimed Producer Patrick Hamilton (Katherine Jenkins, David Garrett), includes three new cuts that will be making their way to UK and European radio this summer. Introducing Moxi, a Los Angeles based indie pop outfit built upon the dreamy, ethereal vocals of Anna Toy and surrounded by the moody, atmospheric keyboards of Andy Toy. Drawing on elements from pop, classic cinema, and 80's new wave, Moxi presents Anna's distinct vocals against a backdrop of dark electronic textures, innovative guitar sonics, and enigmatic, dream pop melodies.  Moxi’s upcoming EP Figures Bathed in Light is produced by Emmy Award-winning songwriter Bobby Hartry and mixed by Bryan Cook (Radiohead, Beck). The six-song release is the result of a writing retreat to a cabin in the desolate mountains of Big Bear. This weekend of escapism was the catalyst for all creativity on the record. The duo's isolation during this time forced them to confront life altering experiences they faced fueling an EP filled with spiritual reflection, conquering life's demons and facing the dark as well as the light.

Title track “Figures Bathed in Light” was conceived after the couple escaped a near-fatal car crash. This life threatening experience empowered them with a wealth of creative energy and the need to create art to immortalize the new found hope they had following this encounter. Anna explains, "our inspiration comes from a myriad of sources and ideas, but the underlying themes come from our emotional response to art and life experience”. The track highlights the band's dreamy, floating quality of music and fascination with the supernatural. Little Mammoths are a London-based Rock’n’Roll band who continue charging down the road in the vein of The Hold Steady, Drive-by Truckers, and Wilco. Formerly of LA indie rock outfit The Futures League, Scott Ruth has since put down the bass guitar to hone his craft as a multi-instrumentalist and producer. He released his hauntingly reflective solo debut The Weight of It All in 2016, and has since been touring extensively supporting Noah Gundersen as well as headlining tours of his own. All the while, Ruth has been working towards his next release, “Are You There." The melancholy roots rocker finds Ruth ruminating on a past relationship and wondering if she might be around, holding onto dreams - and hurting too. When you dig through memories does it hurt this bad to think of me?"

A prolific songwriter with over 200 songs under his belt, Oklahoma native Evan Michaels is now ready to come out with guns blazing on the band’s six-song EP,   Ain’t No Stopping This,   which was released June 2nd.  Each song embodies the essence of youth, being unhurried, and emboldened by love including "Bet On A Backroad."

Led by Michaels'  robust vocals, electric guitar, and hints of mandolin, "Bet On A  Backroad" is a  mid-tempo tune about  the romance of roaming carefree - and  finding love along the way.
