Los Angeles area-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Gregory Ackerman has made an album that sounds as inviting as its title indicates. And Friends, the artist’s debut full-length arrives May 25th, 2018via V2/Munich. Ackerman explains, “I wrote ‘Keep Falling’ when I was in a great mood one day, like I was falling in love with the whole world. But I had no idea what I was doing or where I was going, I was just content. It made me want to write a love song about loving everything and anything, but no one thing or one person in particular.” He continues, “I remember a conversation I was having with a friend of mine, and she was asking me how I could live without wanting love in my life. I was focusing on my music and did not want to get involved with anyone. I thought love would be a distraction, so I instead turned to trying to find a universal love for all things in the world.” Don’t Let the Devil Ride, Paul Thorn’s collection of soulful songs originally recorded by black southern gospel groups, was co-produced by Billy Maddox and Colin Linden and recorded in 3 legendary locations: Sam Phillips Recording in Memphis, FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, and Preservation Hall in New Orleans. Don’t Let The Devil Ride features contributions from the Blind Boys of Alabama, The McCrary Sisters, the Preservation Hall Jazz Horns and Bonnie Bishop. Today, Thorn releases the album's lead single "Love Train," a gospel reimagining of The O'Jay's classic hit. "The message in ["Love Train"], what it's saying is so relevant to the times we're living in 'cause there's so many things dividing everybody," Thorn told Billboard. "If everybody would listen to the words of this song and live by those words it would fix everything. It's a song about loving everybody. That's something worth singing about." Don't Let The Devil Ride is now available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon with "Love Train" as an instant grat. "Love Train" is also available on Spotify and all other streaming platforms. Stand-out album track Ebb & Flow was released as a single on January 19, described by Ross thus, “Above the entrance to the Scottish National Gallery Of Modern Art there is a neon sign that exclaims "Everything Is Going To Be Alright!". The problem that I have with that is I wasted so long waiting for everything to be alright, waiting for something to happen but now, the truth as I see it is that everything is alright. A subtle but powerful difference. There is nothing wrong with right now, that's what the song is about.” Enjoy the video, which is bound to make you happy, above and for more information visit: WEBSITE | FACEBOOK | TWITTER | SPOTIFY Singer-songwriter Anjelia Pelay released the video for her emotional new single, "Heart Of Gold." Brunet had this to say about the track, “The single was inspired after one of my shows in the States. I was at a fair in the mid-west and I met a young couple in the crowd while I was signing autographs. He’s a trucker and she’s a stay-at-home mom. They have two kids. They told me that they don’t have any of the modern trappings like smartphones or large-screen tvs. They just a simple farm house with acres of land for privacy and growing their veggies and fruits etc. I was taken aback by how they were so happy, having found it through their faith, friends, family and their children. What a novel idea!” You can keep up with Norm on his website at www.normbrunet.com. |
