Having released critically acclaimed independent projects within the past few years, husband and wife Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis reunite for their first duet since their album Our Year debuted four years ago.
Recorded at The Bunker where Robison helms his series The Next Waltz, the affectionate, reserved "If I Had A Rose" is a hopeful, mature track led by delicate guitar and tender keys which, alongside Willis' signature vocals and the duo's delightful harmonies, fills the air with romance. Kelly comments about the session, "It was an honor to record again with this band of brilliant musicians. I especially love singing harmonies with Bruce in the moment as we are recording the whole song. We sing differently than if we came back and added the harmony later. It feels like magic or a party trick the way the band unravels the mystery of a song. I thought, 'So THAT’S how this song goes.' ”
