Virginia-based band of brothers Sons of Bill have shared a new track, "Easier," from their forthcoming album Oh God Ma’am. Rolling Stone Country writes "It's a gorgeous ballad – half resigned and half optimistic, with a rainy-day aesthetic that the bandmates partially credit to one of their album's two engineers, rock vet Phil Ek." Oh God Ma'am will be released on June 29th.
"It’s a love song, and I’m so glad Molly Parden agreed to make it a duet with me. Her voice adds a haunting depth to every song she touches," writes singer/guitarist James Wilson. Reflecting on the song's inspiration, Wilson writes "there’s a strange unspoken malaise with my generation - ironic and sad... but I think it’s important to try and sing about love and hope in some genuine way now more than ever. We have to remind each other in some way that it’s going to get easier, even if we know in our heart of hearts that that may not be true."

Hailing from Canada, Kathryn Berry's 2016 debut EP, Beauty of the Brave, hit #1 on Stingray's Canadian Indie music channel while her song, "Come In," was named one of the "Singles of the Year" (2017) on the radio program Texas and Beyond, and two more, "Beautiful Daughter" and "Beauty of the Brave," were featured on Women of Substance radio. Now, Berry is prepping the release of her new album, Misdemeanors, due later this year and recently released the first track form the album, "So You're Goin' To California."
Penned by Berry and her producer, Sari Dajani, "So You're Goin' To California" blends the vocals of Natalie Merchant, the feistiness of Alanis Morissette, and the guitar crunch of Melissa Etheridge in the relatable track about letting yourself be a free spirit and escape the humdrum of daily life, if only for a night. Berry relays the story behind the song, "My partner and I had been fighting for weeks (I can’t remember why, just the stresses of life…). My brother had invited me to his birthday and the date was yet another source of conflict between us. But I guess the whole storm of arguments leading up to the day made me just want to say, “fuck it all”, I’m going back to a time (in my head) when none of this mattered. So, I decided to just go with it and have fun for the night, wherever it took me. I stayed out all night with a random stranger. In truth, he was a perfect gentleman but the whole incident actually made my partner wake up and see me again. Or maybe I just felt attractive again and he saw in me what he’d loved from the start. And that’s how ‘Goin’ To California’ was born." Get "Plugged In" to the song above and for more information visit: Website/Twitter/Instagram/Facebook Spotify/iTunes

Growing up in Louisiana, Kayla Woodson was a little girl with a big voice and a love for the stage. At age seven, she started playing the Texas/Louisiana Opry circuit and by age ten was fronting her own band and performing at parades and festivals across the region. By age fifteen, Kayla was writing her own music and released an album titled I’m Movin’ On, which included her original songs. In the fall of 2012, she made the move to Nashville to study at Belmont University and a few short years later in 2015, she performed on the Hard Rock stage at CMA Music Fest and released her first single “Fan for the Flame." She followed that up with her self-titled EP (2016) and recently debuted her new single, "Unfixable," a mid-tempo ballad that showcases Woodson's passionate, powerhouse vocals (recalling Carrie Underwood) which expose a determination and a vulnerability to the one she loves.
"I wrote 'Unfixable' with my co-writer Andrew Peebles, and by the time we were done writing the song I knew that I had to release it as my next single. It's more of an emotional song that shows way more vulnerability than I have ever shown through my music. It's about that moment when you love someone so much that you can't walk away from them even though you know the relationship is not good for you. You're essentially begging this person to cause you pain and in turn make your connection unfixable, so that it gives you enough reason to walk away from them. I'm so excited for the world to hear this song and I hope you all love it as much as I do!" Get Plugged In above. Website
On May 4th, Nashville-based artist Daniel Daniel released his debut album, Lonesome Hollow. Replete with warm vocals, cinematic melodies. and captivating storytelling Lonesome Hollow is a quiet, captivating listen from its forbidding opener to the airy "Go Easy" on through to the spaghetti western “Money Money Money" and album closer, "First Train" a dreamy, pedal-led mid-tempo ballad that soars.
With Lonesome Hollow, Daniel conjures a solid, well-crafted set that makes lonesome a little less empty.
At 10-years old Andy Wills tuned his radio to the local oldies station and was instantly mesmerized by the powerful melodies and clever use of words from Elvis, Elton John, Bob Seger, The Birds, Ricky Nelson, Eagles, and the Beatles.
Into his teens, he began writing down lyrics and putting them to chords, but it wasn't until years later, after graduating, getting married and working in the backpacking industry for 4 years when he would answer the calling in his heart. In December of 2008 he made the decision to plan a trip to Nashville and withing a year, he scored a Top 10 Christian Country hit when Johnny Jolin recorded his song "Thank God." Soon afterwards, he and his family made the move from Ohio to Nashville to pursue music full time. Since then he has over 100 songs recorded by artists such as Jerrod Niemann, Stephanie Quayle, Shotgun Rider, and Lucas Hoge. In 2017, he decided to write some songs for himself and the result is his 5-song EP, Build A Wall. With a firm footing in Americana the brief set features opener "Build A Wall" (if you can relate, you'll cry) which, via a comforting roots-melody and Wills' familiar, warm vocals, confronts the tendency to put a guard around one's heart. That's followed by four more tracks including the autobiographical "615", the sweetly romantic toe-tapper "Born For Ya", the nostalgic "Nike High Tops" and "Someday," a strikingly tender ballad, that go down easy. Website/Facebook/Twitter During their long and storied careers, Chip and Tony Kinman have been involved in some of America's most defining moments in music. Their seminal band the Dils are regarded as one of the first and foremost West Coast punk rock acts of the late 70's and their subsequent group Rank and File helped define the entire alt-country movement and changed the definition of what we now call Americana forever. 2018 finds the brothers re-uniting to bring groundbreaking rock and roll with a Blues driven vehicle that Chip calls Ford Madox Ford. With Chip fronting Ford Madox Ford and Tony contributing production, co-writing, and backing vocals for their debut This American Blues (April 9th) the veterans have crafted material that is uniquely theirs, putting their stamp on a collection of tuneful fuzzy-punky, rootsy-bluesy tracks. One of the tracks, "Promised" is a smoky, guitar-driven take on broken promises (or outright lies) and how they can crush a soul and kill a relationship. Listen above and for more info visit HERE
Born in a post-GM town, Joel Levi spent most of his twenties in Indiana with those years proving to be the foundation for his blossoming song-craft. It wasn’t until he and his wife decided to move to Nashville though that his songwriting really came into focus and he found an affinity for the storytelling of Americana.
Levi's songs speak to common threads woven into American culture - marriage, starting a family, and the struggle to make a living while on the road. Those themes can be found on his full-length self-titled album released May 4th. The ten-track project takes a look at marital strife ("Will We Ever Change"), loneliness ("Easy To Be Alone"), and reconnecting ("The Garden") with vulnerable, honest, and introspective lyrics that speak of universal situations with emotional depth and wisdom. Hailing from North Lake Tahoe, California, Dead Winter Carpenters have built a reputation for pouring their heart and soul into each song, as they blend acoustic and electric elements into a progressive sound that is poised to endure.
On May 4th, the quintet released their new tune, "Roller Coaster." Written by Jesse Dunn (lead vocals and acoustic guitar), "Roller Coaster," which features Jackie Green on Hammond B3 organ, is a soaring roots rocker that hints at remaining optimistic despite the highs and lows life drives our way. Led by Jenni Charles' impassioned fiddle playing, Nick Swimley's blazing Telecaster, and dreamy harmonies, "Roller Coaster" is an emotional ride worth taking. Reminiscent of genre-benders like Jack White, Chris Thile, and Sam Bush, Dead Winter Carpenters harmoniously fuses refined musical ability with a scarcely restrained tendency to let it all hang out. The result is a controlled burn, a riveting sound, and a connection with fans that sells out shows and has the band sharing stages with the likes of Jason Isbell, Greensky Bluegrass, and Hard Working Americans. www.deadwintercarpenters.com, www.facebook.com/DeadWinterCarpenters, www.twitter.com/dwcarpenters www.instagram.com/deadwintercarpenters.
