January 24, 2018 (Partial Press Release) - Nashville-based indie folk/ rock band Kellen of Troy has announced the Feb. 16th release of debut LP, Posthumous Release. Kellen of Troy is the lush folk-rock project of Nashville multi-instrumentalist Kellen Wenrich. He pens parables from personal and professional life, and backs up his vulnerable confessions with dense arrangements. It's a tasteful mélange of glam rock, country, and power pop, and it stands out. His Sad Bastard EP was recently hailed by NPR's Jewly Hight as one of World Café's "Indie Discoveries Of 2017," and those were just the b-sides to his forthcoming Posthumous Release.
The new album opens on jangling guitar, piano, and Kellen admitting "The only power that I wish to wield cannot be found in some ivory tower, I wanna rule your heart, my dear." His low voice has an endearing drawl, it's intriguing, and it drags you in.

"It's hard to imagine, after all these years, the band that Ronnie Van Zant, Allen Collins and myself started back in Jacksonville, would resonate for this long and to so many generations of fans. I’m certain they are looking down from above, amazed that the music has touched so many," said Gary Rossington, original and founding member of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Lead vocalist, Johnny Van Zant added, "we’ve been blessed by these great songs and the messages they carry to the fans. It’s been a true honor to try and fill in my brother’s footsteps for the past 31 years, keeping the music and his spirit alive." Russell has partnered with The Big Takeover to premiere his previously unreleased track “The Sound of Rock and Roll,” which can be heard at http://bit.ly/2DrQQoo. LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Selective Memories: An Anthology offers 41 reasons Luther Russell is so highly regarded by his peers and so treasured by fans, who have fallen in love with his eclectically personal songs, which careen rambunctiously among power pop, rootsy Americana, folk-rock, punk, funk and country. This 2-CD compilation, due Friday, February 23, 2018, via Hanky Panky Records (and as a double cassette on Burger Records), also provides newcomers a wonderful introduction to an artist whose work critics have compared favorably to Wilco, the Replacements, Ryan Adams, Elliott Smith, and Big Star. Russell fans will rejoice to discover that this retrospective, spanning 30 years of music-making, heavily favors previously unreleased material — 25 of the 41 tracks, to be precise, are being issued for the first time. There are two early demos (“Got Me on My Knees” and “Interstate 68 Blues”) by the Bootheels, Russell’s teenage band with Jakob Dylan, and one recording (“Smoke Signals”) from Federale, his short-lived group with ex-Black Crowes guitarist Marc Ford. Additionally, the collection holds songs — both released and unreleased — from Russell’s time fronting the 1990s band the Freewheelers (which put out albums for David Geffen’s DGC Records and Rick Rubin’s American Recordings) and from his solo outings. The anthology also comes with a booklet featuring the artist’s own track-by-track annotations as well as liner notes by veteran music writer Bud Scoppa and Larry Crane, editor of Tape Op Magazine. Chances are that you probably have heard Russell’s work without realizing it. His songs have appeared on all three major TV networks along with HBO and Showtime. He also co-wrote two tunes on Weezer’s 2016 Grammy-nominated self-titled album, and was one of the performers in the recent concert film Thank You, Friends: Big Star’s Third Live … And More. A sought-after producer, Russell has helmed projects for heralded acts such as Richmond Fontaine, Fabiano do Nascimento, Ned Roberts, Sarabeth Tucek, Fernando Viciconte, Calvin Love, and Fever the Ghost. His duo with Jody Stephens, Those Pretty Wrongs, last year released a debut full-length thatPaste called “a great LP that reflects the traditions of past acoustic music,” while All Music praised its “sparse elegance and unabashed sincerity.” Russell currently has been working with another cult rock icon, Robyn Hitchcock, serving as guitarist in Hitchcock’s current band, the L.A. Squires. As Hitchcock himself puts it, “Luther Russell is a joy to listen to and a joy to play music with. He understands something in music that should never be explained.”
Music fans in Texas and beyond might recognize Jeff Bryant as the versatile keyboardist they’ve seen performing with Alpha Rev, Cory Morrow, and Hudson Moore, but for the first time, Bryant is taking center stage, releasing his debut solo effort, Sleeping with the Lights On, on Feb. 9th. The all original seven-track album showcases Bryant's songwriting skills, his warm tenor, and a fluid sound that blends pop, R&B and jazz.
Today, TDC is very pleased to premiere one of the album's tracks, "Addie." Penned by Bryant, "Addie," is an irresistible gem about missing a loved one (four legged or two) that easily recalls Jason Mraz or John Mayer with its perfect fusion of pop and folk. Bryant shares the story behind the song, "The song "Addie" came out of a particularly hard time I experienced a few years ago. My dog, whom the song is named after, had run away. I searched everywhere but could not find her until she decided to show up at the back door one day. I tried to write the song in a way so that the audience wouldn't necessarily know it was about a dog, even though I make mention of a few dog type behaviors throughout. I had some fun with this one and hope folks enjoy listening to this little pop song as much as I did writing it.” Website Pre-Order Nashville, TN (January 23, 2018)-Josh Ward’s latest album “Holding Me Together” continues to slay the radio airwaves. His new single “You Don’t Have To Be Lonely” just hit#1 on the Texas Regional Radio Chart this week making it his ninth consecutive #1 hit single. All six singles off the critically acclaimed album took the #1 spot and his previous single “Change My Mind” also ranked #8 on the chart’s "Best Songs of 2017." It doesn’t seem that long ago when this country music traditionalist was the new kid on the scene, and it didn’t take long for Ward to plant his flag in the rich Texas music soil. His 2012 debut album “Promises” generated three #1 singles and his unbelievable rise to the top of the chart hasn’t stopped since then. This is amazing news for Josh to receive just as he is in the studio this month recording his brand new forthcoming album. Featuring a wide range of blues-rock, the 13-track album features “a collection of songs that tell my story,” says Arkansas Dave. From blues to gospel to rock, the album showcases his many talents as a self-taught musician. Recorded over eight days at Fame Studios with the Swampers, the legendary Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section –Will McFarlane, Clayton Ivey and Bob Wray, with horn arrangements by Charles Rose and Jim Horn—the album was produced by Jamie “Gypsy” Evans and Arkansas Dave. Vocals were completed at Arlyn Studios in Austin, TX. "WE is not about you and me or even ‘us,’ the band. It’s about finding our way in the world one day at a time trying to live out each moment until the sun goes down.” Parsonsfield has been through the wringer of ups and downs and decided for the first time since the band’s 2011 conception to take a two-month break from touring to focus solely on recording. The result is WE, a contemplative EP filled with real life struggle and excitement. The album takes us from the joys of childhood discovery to the depression and confusion of a quarter-life crisis, and ends with dancing your way toward the darkness at the end of days. “Everyone finds themselves searching for this theoretical ‘thing’ that is supposed to make them happy. Whether it’s a relationship or financial comfort, there’s a goal in our minds that once achieved, we’ll be able to start enjoying life,” says singer/songwriter and banjo player Chris Freeman. “Our circumstances, whether we’re rich or poor, are only half of what determines happiness. The rest is our thoughts, habits and connections with other people,” adds songwriter and mandolin player Antonio Alcorn. “WE is an inner journey to appreciate what you have, and to find happiness no matter what your lot in life.” Nashville, TN—January, 2018 (Press Release)--- Critically-acclaimed Country duo Muscadine Bloodline releases new single, “Movin’ On,” to digital retailers and streaming platforms today. Watch Sheppard perform"Steady Your Aim" HERE (Press Release) Boise, ID— Singer-songwriter Andrew Sheppard grew up in Hailey, Idaho in an extended musical family, his mother was always playing and singing in rock and blues bands. As a kid Andrew was always at his moms rehearsals and live shows, drawing in the music as a constant. Sheppard was playing bass in punk rock bands in high school and by the age of 19, he picked up the guitar and started writing his own songs. 10 years later, he is poised to release his sophomore album, Steady Your Aim on March 23rd. Steady Your Aim is a concept record, a musical journey in which every song was methodically thought out to fit the record. An analog recording, it is a cinematic dreamscape narrative that is richly layered with the pedal steel, piano, cello, Wurlitzer and organ. All of their parts are gently tucked in which leaves the listener wondering just what it is they are actually hearing. “We used traditional sounding instruments to create a new sound,” said Sheppard. “For example, we used cello on this record because I wanted a deep sound that didn’t come from anything electric or synthetic. Instead of being a ‘lead’ instrument we used it as a texture tool giving the songs a more rich and ‘real’ feel.” Produced by Sheppard, Eric Loomis and Wes Walsworth (both of whom play guitar on the album), Steady Your Aim was recorded at Ivy Hall Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. John Mayfield at Mayfield Mastering mastered the record. |
