Working together, the Millers and the Haggards have curated performance wardrobes, instruments, professional and personal possessions and are designing interactive exhibits, to ensure that Merle’s fans are treated to a unique experience. On this date, which marks the 50thAnniversary of the Capitol Records release of “Sing Me Back Home,” it was revealed that Merle’s Meat + 3 Saloon will also be a part of the plans to preserve this country music legend in in Music City.
“The world lost one of the greatest country singers of all time and I lost the love of my life when Merle Haggard died on his 79th birthday April 6, 2016,” says Theresa Haggard. “Now, nearly one and half years later, I have partnered with my friends Bill and Shannon Miller, owners of the acclaimed Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline Museums to open the Merle Haggard Museum. Merle would be very happy knowing that his museum will be next door to his dear friend Johnny Cash. I'm sure he is up there smiling about that. Our family is also very excited about the Merle-themed restaurant and bar featuring first-class, Southern home cooking and a saloon to boot. Nashville’s Boo Ray has teamed up with Lilly Winwood to pay tribute to the great Kenny Rogers as he continues his “Farewell Tour,” with their cover of the classic “Islands in the Stream.” This is a sneak peak into the 7inch duet series Ray is gearing up to release in partnership with Kindercore Vinyl later this year. “As a kid I was way into the Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton version of the song,” says Ray. “Earlier this year Lilly Winwood & I were nostalgically digging the song and discovered The Bee Gees wrote it. We gone and went down the Barry, Robin & Maurice Gibb rabbit-hole and landed on the soundtrack from “Grease”... it’s just a blast and we had to record it. I think we got kind of a Muscle Shoals take on it.” Ray who christened the Kindercore pressing plant with the vinyl release of his album Sea of Lights last month is excited for the upcoming duets series, that in addition to Lilly Winwood features collaborations with Elizabeth Cook and celebrity chef Sean Brock. Kindercore is a unique new pressing plant with a mission to modernize the current pressing process by making it more sustainable. The Kindercore research and development team have taken active steps toward renewable PVC replacements, seeking to be the first pressing plant to offer petroleum free phonograph records in the coming years. By Boo Ray being the first artist to work with Kindercore he is hoping to set an example for that taking steps towards preserving the planet, can be an simple as working with forward thinking companies like Kindercore. Sam Valdez is a Los Angeles based singer-songwriter, whose music is built upon the fusion of shoegaze and vintage Americana indie folk. Embodying the best of both genres, Valdez has created dreamy, yet haunting atmospheric soundscapes that resonate with her listeners.
Valdez grew up at the edge of the Nevada desert, in Las Vegas and credits the desert as a major influence in her writing and composing. The vastness and solitude of desert life is apparent throughout her writing, with cinematic resonance and euphoric arrangements. After performing in numerous bands, she found the essence of her solo sound and decided to run with it, indulging in her own creative process and ultimately developing a sound that is true to her own. As a classically trained violinist, Valdez has a sense of musical maturity within her songs, adding technicalities that bring her to the forefront of her genre. Lead single, ‘Its Alright’ oozes beauty and grace through it’s forthright lyrics. Featuring fuzzy 90’s shoegaze melodies, wistfully innocent vocals and driving drum rhythms, it’s a melancholic tale of both love and loss. ‘Its Alright’ thematically focuses on coping with the disillusion that comes with relationships. Valdez reveals, “I wrote this song in a dream-like state of mind”. Valdez has seen success with her previous release ‘Hours’ receiving acclaim from prestigious media outlets including Black Book. NASHVILLE--One of the best things about the CMA Awards are the surprises, and “The 51st Annual CMA Awards” has more unexpected collaborations to share as another round of superstar performances are announced for the Wednesday, Nov. 8 (8-11 PM ET), live broadcast from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on the ABC Television Network. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, P!NK, and Keith Urban will perform on this year’s Awards, and an unprecedented opening collaboration will feature Eric Church, Lady Antebellum, Darius Rucker, Keith Urban and more. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will co-host The Awards for the 10th consecutive year. Hill and McGraw are among Country Music’s most nominated couples and “Speak to a Girl” marks the sixth time they’ve been nominated together for a CMA in the Vocal Event of the Year and Musical Event of the Year categories since 1997’s “It’s Your Love,” which they won.
