Nashville, TN (May, 2016 PR) - Hannah Ellis performed her poignant song “Officer Down” during National Police Week held at the Capitol in Washington, DC on Sunday, May 15th. The song, written by Ellis and co-writers Steven Dale Jones and Justin Ebach, is a tribute to her cousin Daniel Ellis who was killed in the line of duty in Richmond, KY last year and written from the perspective of his wife. Daniel Ellis along with 251 other officers were honored by having their name added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. “Being asked to sing at the Fallen Peace Officers Memorial service is an honor in and of itself, but especially considering what my family has been through this past year with losing our own Officer, it is something I will never forget,” says Ellis. “Having the opportunity to sing a song that's so personal to me and feel it resonate with so many people who have similar stories was a very moving experience. It was an emotional day for Ellis, who after performing, was given a memorial coin from the brother of a fallen officer from Crawford, NY.

Nashville, Tenn. (May 26, 2016 PR) - After working in concert lighting design and shining the spotlight on acts such as Sara Evans and Lee Ann Womack, up-and-coming country artist Chelsea Gill is stepping into the spotlight of her own with her new “Tennessee Heat” music video. The video, directed by Joshua Lockhart, captures the idea of an uncomplicated summer romance - one that you look back on and smile. Watch via YouTube: https://youtu.be/G5LjxqYkPqU Wanting to start her career by giving back to others, Gill has decided to donate $1 for every 10 views (up to 10,000) to the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund. The organization provides college grants and financial assistance to surviving children and spouses of U.S. military service members who have lost their lives as a result of their service in the Iraq or Afghanistan wars. “With Memorial Day right around the corner, I felt I had an opportunity to honor those who gave their lives for my freedom,” said Gill. “I don’t have much to give yet, but this is a way I can give something. I hope it inspires others to give and focus on those who are in need around us.” The Michigan native recently released her debut self-titled EP as a country singer-songwriter. https://www.facebook.com/ChelseaGillMusic https://twitter.com/chelgillmusic https://www.instagram.com/chelseagillmusic/ Polyvinyl Records and Owen are thrilled to announce the July 29th release of The King of Whys, the forthcoming record from acclaimed musician and songwriter Mike Kinsella. Carey over 18 days last winter at April Base Studios in Eau Claire, WI, the album is Owen’s most inspired and evocative thus far, interpolating a group dynamic into what has long been an intensely intimate sound. It also marks the first work in Kinsella’s two-decade-plus career to be made entirely outside of the greater Chicagoland area. Lead single “Lost” is premiering today on NPR Music, who write that “the lush and lively The King Of Whys feels different and familiar at once,” with Kinsella exhibiting a “renewed sense of purpose.” The King of Whys will be released outside of North America via Wichita Recordings. Mikko Joensuu is the kind of singer-songwriter who’ll easily stand out from the crowd. His debut album ‘Amen 1’ taps into the American folk music tradition, and it is all about deep and healing songs which at times give the listener an impression of spending time in quiet, intimate surroundings with people like Townes Van Zandt, Lee Hazlewood, Josh T. Pearson or Leonard Cohen. Arrangements are raw but beautiful - mostly just the piano and guitar accompany Mikko’s voice, with pedal steel guitars and soothing string sections paying a visit every now and then. Mikko Joensuu’s grand solo debut is three albums long, and with part two appearing in late 2016 and the third instalment coming next spring, it forms the Amen Trilogy. Joensuu, who’s spent some years in the proverbial wilderness after the split of his earlier combo Joensuu 1685, comments on the creation process of his magnum opus: Nashville, TN (May 24, 2016 PR) - Deep in south Texas there is an old Spanish term called “Dale Shine,” which in today’s slang style simply means “give it gas” and/or “go for it.” Further up north, in Stephenville to be exact, hails a band so heavily mired in that credo that their stages are nearly overrun with fans pressed hard up against the edges, eyes wide, hanging on every word. In the Americanized version, they call themselves Dolly Shine, and on June 10th they will release their new album “Walkabout,” individual tales from a drifter’s diary…no “moral of the story,” just straightforward observation. Pre-order here: www.pledgemusic.com/projects/dollyshine According to Rounder VP of A&R Scott Billington,“Long before the term ‘Americana’ was used to describe a genre, Rounder Records was exploring the common threads that run through American roots music, and the way contemporary musicians had begun to tie those threads together. The June digital release from Rounder includes many classic roots rock and Americana titles, including Laura Nyro’s exquisite final album, and the surprising collaboration between Tiny Tim and Brave Combo.” See the full list of reissues below.
