I don't normally post about Kenny Chesney. It's not that I completely dislike him; he's just not my thing. However, "American Kids" is growing on me, so here ya go, from his PR team at EB Media:

Chesney knew he had something special when he heard “American Kids," but he didn’t think he’d hit the kind of nerve the decidedly icon-invoking tribute to being young and alive in the U.S. has struck. Hitting radio Friday, June 20 at 6 a.m. and iTunes at 7 p.m., the first single from Chesney’s eagerly anticipated fall release debuted at #27 on Billboard and #31 on Country Aircheck/Mediabase. With little more than two days play, it topped iTunes Country Songs chart and hit the all-genre Top 10 over the weekend.

“I knew it was one of the freshest things in a long time when I heard it,” says the songwriter from Luttrell, Tennessee. “And then I heard it on the radio, and I couldn’t believe how great it sounded! ‘American Kids’ sounded as freewheeling and free-spirited as the folks I’m singing about... and no matter how old you are, I promise, unless you were one of those kids who just didn’t like fun, you know just how alive this feels.”

Bowing on NoShoesRadio.com at 6 a.m., mainstream radio took up the single – and by chart close Monday, 116 stations added the song. But beyond (un)conventional media, the song is making its way virally. Myriad covers are hitting the internet, including Angie Keilhauer (Link: http://bit.ly/1lkBaqs), whose driving, smoky rendition caught Chesney’s eye. “It’s crazy what’s going on with it,” Chesney laughs. “People feel just like I do about this song. They love how it makes them feel, where it takes them in their life. You don’t need a big party to have fun, it’s right where you are and how you take it.

With a chorus that contains the salvo: “a little messed up, but we’re all alright,” the Shane McAnally/Luke Laird/Rodney Clawson song mines three rhythms, two works and so many iconics you can’t count’ em. But what can be measured is the smile-induction factor. For Chesney, who’s been creating trends rather than following them since his breakthrough No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems and When the Sun Goes Down, he was seeking something that was fun but didn’t sacrifice innovative songs or unique approach that have seen him teaming with Dave Matthews, Uncle Kracker, the Wailers and Grace Potter on a series of outside the lines #1s.

“I never want to repeat myself,” laughs the man The Wall Street Journal deemed “The King of the Road” about his upcoming project. “When you’ve had the kind of songs I’ve been able to find, it gets harder every time. But I believe creativity is something you create – with time, passion and talented friends! I hate not playing to the fans this summer, but the response to ‘American Kids’ tells me it was the right thing.”

The Zac Brown Band announced that Sturgill Simpson will be joining their 'Great American Road Trip' tour as support on some East Coast dates this summer. 

The Kentucky native released his debut album in 2013, followed by 2014′s Metamodern Sounds in Country Music. That album, which was released on May 13th, bowed at No. 11 on the Billboard Top Country albums chart.

Country newcomer Ben Rue released the official video for his debut single "I Can't Wait (Be My Wife)." 

Rue's small town Oregon roots are beautifully reflected in the picturesque landscape in the video. The simple yet captivating imagery combined with the detailed lyrics create a happy and hopeful state of mind that you can't help but find familiar. Showing a soldier coming home to his love, this video will surely hit close to home with many country fans. 

"I Can't Wait (Be My Wife)" was written by R. Ogren, J. Bailey, J. Berry, P. Munters and J. Ulrich and was produced by Kyle Lehning (Randy Travis, George Jones). "I Can't Wait (Be My Wife)" was released to radio only a few weeks ago. Already, the song has gained attention and recognition from Billboard and All Access naming it "the wedding song for summer 2014."

Ben shares, “I’m a big storyteller, I like songs with meaning, not just noise that puts people in a good mood, but something that connects with them on a deeper level – and I hope that the music that I create will do just that.”

“WADE BOWEN CLASSIC” CELEBRITY GOLF TOURNAMENT AND CONCERT, BREAKS RECORD RAISING MORE THAN A QUARTER OF A MILLION DOLLARS FOR CHARITY


Award winning singer/songwriter Wade Bowen hosted his 16th Annual Bowen Classic celebrity golf tournament and concert on June 1st and 2nd, in his hometown of Waco, TX. The event featured friends and fellow artists who helped to raise funds and awareness for The Bowen Family Foundation. This year’s record-breaking event raised more than a quarter of a million dollars with the help of approximately 4,000 fans, friends and locals who came out to support the cause.

“What an amazing year! I still cannot believe how great everything went and the turnout we had. Waco and its surrounding communities have really jumped on board and supported this event like I never imagined,” says Bowen. “The jam was probably the most fun I’ve ever had on stage with some of my best friends! I truly cannot wait until next year to do it all over again!” continues Bowen.

The event, which kicked off with an all-star concert on June 1, featured Bowen along with friends and fellow artists, including Kevin Fowler, Mark Chesnutt, Randy Rogers, Pat Green, Stoney LaRue, Whiskey Myers, William Clark Green, Cody Canada & The Departed, Micky and the Motorcars, Josh Grider, Adam Hood and Chris King. On June 2, the two-day event ended with a sold out record breaking attended golf tournament at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course. After this years event, Bowen is now closing in on raising one million dollars for various local organizations in need.

ABOUT THE CHARITY:
The Bowen Family Foundation was established by Wade Bowen and family so that funds raised from his annual charity event could be shared with many different organizations in need each year. A portion of the 2013 event’s proceeds will be donated to a trust to support and benefit the rebuilding of the West, Texas community.

Dierks Bentley recently recorded "Ride On," the featured song for the new History Channel series, Biker Battleground: Phoenix, which will premiere July 1st at 10pm ET on The History Channel. The show will follow the "temperamental and talented bad boys" of the bike business.

Brad Paisley unveiled the cover for his upcoming album, Moonshine in the Trunk, while on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this past Tuesday night, June 17th. 

Paisley, who had previously not been a drinker, also told of the bar that he had installed in his recording studio that provided the inspiration for his new songs.

“I was thinking, ‘This is probably a mistake.' And, it ended up being fantastic. We have just camped out and cut music, and it’s really fun. It’s all sort of been in the name of what I was writing and to capture the vibe of this perspective of mine. The first single is a little taste, but there’s a lot of other stuff.”

Moonshine in the Trunk will be available August 26th. Brad's current single from the album is "River Bank."

Congratulations are in order for RPME Records vocalist and Potomac, MD native Maggie Rose, who won The National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) local 2013 Emmy Award, on Saturday (6/14) at the 56th Emmy Awards Gala. The singer co-wrote and performed “Get Ya Game On” for Comcast SportsNet as the theme of their coverage of the National Football League’s Washington Redskins throughout the 2013 season.
 
“I was thrilled that the song really resonated with the sports crowd,” says Maggie. “But to win an Emmy for it has exceeded my wildest expectations. I'm incredibly honored.”
 
Maggie’s parents, Lizz and Steve Durante, were on hand to accept the award on their daughter’s behalf at the 56th Emmy Awards Gala. On Tuesday (6/16), the singer received the Emmy Award while shooting a new version of the “Get Ya Game On” promo in Nashville for the upcoming 2014 NFL season.
 
Her local 2013 Emmy Award win follows the release of Maggie’s latest hit, “Looking Back Now,” which is the third single from her acclaimed debut album, CUT TO IMPRESS. She is currently writing with Nashville hitmakers such as Dallas Davidson and Lisa Carver for her sophomore album. The new project will be co-produced by Davidson and Brian Kennedy. The talented singer has opened for the likes of Dierks Bentley, Gary Allan, Sheryl Crow and will join Florida Georgia Line's "This Is How We Cruise" aboard the Norwegian Pearl this November.

Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival  features seven sustainably powered stages with diverse music, dance, storytelling and family-oriented programming as well as a Handcrafters’ Village, the Green Living Expo, the Working Waterfront with small boat exhibits and rides, the Artisanal Food & Farm Market, environmental education displays and exhibits, and the Circle of Song where audience participation is the focus. 

Inspired by Pete Seeger’s desire to clean up the river over forty years ago, Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival initially helped raise the funds to build the sloop Clearwater, which has since become a world-renowned floating classroom and a symbol of effective grassroots action. Today, Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Inc. is a non-profit organization that sails at the forefront of the nation’s environmental challenges. The revenue raised by the Revival goes to support Clearwater’s numerous educational programs and its work toward environmental and social justice.
