LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Press Release) — During their original 1965-1970 run, the Turtles led a musical double life, scoring a lengthy run of unforgettable pop hits — such as “Happy Together,” “Elenore,” “You Baby” and “She’d Rather Be With Me” — while making albums that were among the era’s most distinctive, inventive and gently subversive. With co-frontmen Howard Kaylan and Mark Volmanproviding heavenly harmonies, infectious sonic craft and effervescent humor, the Turtles were a ubiquitous presence on Top 40 radio for much of the ’60s, while earning their counterculture credentials with such adventurous LPs as the Ray Davies-produced Turtle Soup and the wildly eclectic The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands, on which they impersonated adifferent fictional act on each track.

Click HERE to listen to Chesnutt’s New Single “Oughta Miss Me By Now” From Forthcoming New Album, Tradition Lives Pre-Order Tradition Lives Here NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 20, 2016 PR) – They say good things come in threes and for Mark Chesnutt fans that expression is ringing true. Chesnutt’s first album of new material in eight years (Tradition Lives) will be released July 8, and the lead single, “Oughta Miss Me By Now,” is garnering airplay across the country. In addition to new music, fans craving more content from the classic country superstar can check out the recently launched YouTube video series playlist, “Mark Chesnutt’s Honky Tonk Monday” on the Mark Chesnutt YouTube Channel, YouTube.com/MarkChesnuttTV. The new videos feature Chesnutt recounting his favorite songs and memories of the format’s biggest stars. In Episode One he describes the feeling of singing Ronnie Milsap’s “Houston Solution” live, long before Chesnutt had a string of hits of his own, which include “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing,” “It Sure Is Monday,” “Brother Jukebox,” “Going Through The Big D,” “Bubba Shot The Jukebox,” “Too Cold At Home,” and many more – making up his plethora of multi-platinum selling and top-charting hits. Episode Two is an emotional account of his relationship with the legendary George Jones. Seems people love lists and since it is mid-year I thought I'd give you my five favorite albums so far. Granted, it's impossible to give every album released a listen, but out of the ones I have listened to (either to review or for pleasure) these are my favorites and the ones I listen to almost daily. Leave your favorites, and suggestions of the records people need to check out, in the comments below.
Ryan Beaver's 'Rx' Hands down my favorite album of the year so far. Anchored by the hopeful resilience of “Dark” and the melancholy nostalgia and idealism of “If I Had A Horse,” Rx is replete with songs that are lyrically and sonically compelling, interesting, effective, and universally relatable. Beaver, who co-wrote nine of the twelve tracks, brings insight to a myriad of emotions including sentimentality, innocence, and longing and merges them with a welcome, edgy frankness; successfully conveying sentiments to either male or female in “a-ha” moments that have you realizing he nailed it. The Honeycutters On The Ropes On The Ropes is brimming with affecting, relatable, and on point lyrics beginning with the title track whose opening line “I’ve been making something out of nothing for a long time now” provides the definitive statement of a woman who has lived and lost, but gained a security with herself and an ability to get through the tougher times. It’s not just Platt’s ability to tap into emotions and experiences so keenly that makes On The Ropes so special, the band’s tight musicianship brings Platt's lyrics to new heights. Randy Rogers Band Nothing Shines Like Neon Unmistakably Randy Rogers Band, Nothing Shines Like Neon is brimming with earnest lyrics, meaningful (and occasionally downright fun) melodies and appearances by Alison Krauss and Jerry Jeff Walker. It’s traditional, it’s country and it shines bright as one of the best of 2016. New album Let Me Off At The Bottom from Danile Meade & The Flying Mules features eleven new Meade originals and is the first record he made with The Flying Mules. Meade and the Mules - Lloyd Reid on electric guitar, Mark Ferrie on double bass and Thomas Sutherland on the drums - recorded the album live (for the most part) at the legendary CaVa Studios in Glasgow and mixed by Morgan Jahnig over in Tennessee. This album looks to both the past and future at once and features songs that draw on a widely varying influence and subject matter. Depression, prescriptions, limerence, and even a shotgun wedding are all here (amongst others), a mixed bag made coherent by The Flying Mules road-honed sound. Following his debut album As Good As Bad Can Be (2013) and 2014’s Keep Right Away 2015 saw Meade and The Mules complete two successful headline UK Tours, a sell out nationwide tour opening for Pokey LaFarge and once again being invited to perform live on the BBC as part of the highly successful 'BBC at The Quay' sessions in Glasgow. Meade also undertook a two week solo stint in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium opening for and backing Diana Jones. As a result, he and long-term guitarist Lloyd Reid were invited back to the EU for a string of their own dates at the end of August, which were a great success and already there are more EU shows confirmed for 2016/17. Daniel and the band finished off the year on a high, supporting Scottish music royalty The Proclaimers. Having struck a deal with label At The Helm Records to release new album 'Let Me Off At The Bottom' (May 27th 2016) things continue to move in the right direction. 2016 promises to be a great year, with slots already booked at 'Kilkenny Rhythm and Roots Festival,' 'Maverick Festival', 'Eden Festival' and 'Americana Festival 2016' amongst others, and a solo UK tour in April, once again in support of Diana Jones. Additionally, they have been confirmed for the support slots for all of Sturgill Simpson's UK dates. Watch "Please Louise" here. Nashville, TN (Press Release)… Summer 2016 continues to heat up for country newcomer James Dupré! Starting today, fans can purchase the highly anticipated new album on iTunes or order a physical copy at jamesdupre.com. The 10-song compilation, produced by Jordan Lehning, features James as a co-writer on seven of the 10 tracks along with hit-makers Jessi Alexander, Neal Coty, Clint Daniels and more. The independently released new project is getting rave reviews from fans and critics alike. Music Row’s Robert Oermann offers a poignant review of “Stoned To Death”, stating, “This is a singer who exudes charisma with every note. The song is stupendously well-written, boasting both perfectly executed turns of phrases and a beautifully swelling melody. Lehning’s slowly building production bonfire is magnificent. Sign me up for the fan club. Now.” In addition to the glowing praise for the album, Sirius XM is now spinning the title track on The Highway. The rising country star will be performing “Stoned To Death” and more from the new project via Facebook Live on Monday, 6/20 at part of the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s “Live Unlimited” campaign. (June 17, 2016 PR) – Known for genuinely gritty lyrics and hard rock anthems, Aaron Lewis is getting back to his Country roots September 16 with his first album on Dot Records entitled SINNER. Lewis comes out of the gate “with both fists flying” on the lead single “That Ain’t Country,” –available today - where he laments the current state of “Country, if you call it that,” and pines for the sound of his honky-tonk heroes. The Bocephus-styled musicality and Lewis’ accessible vocals showcase the “pain, heartache and desperation,” a bedrock of traditional Country that is often missing from the airwaves today. Pre-order for the physical album begins today at pledgemusic.com/aaronlewis while the digital version will be offered at retailers starting July 15 with select instant grat tracks available throughout the launch.
Americana singer-songwriter Daniel Pearson will release his new single "4th July" on June 17th. The immediately infectious track (hot on the heels of his acclaimed 2015 Alone, Together album) is a freewheeling slice of his songwriting talents that welds driving guitars, Johnny n’ June vocal harmonies & raucous harmonica into an ironic tale of love gone sour that fizzes by in under three minutes.
Daniel has released three albums to widespread critical acclaim around the world. Writers for Uncut Magazine, R2 Magazine, The Daily Mirror, Drowned In Sound, No Depression, Americana UK, PopMatters, Baeble Music & many more have been quick to praise timeless songwriting that fuses poetic lyrics to classic country & rock dynamics. His songs have been aired by influential DJs on BBC Radio 2, BBC 6Music, BBC Introducing, KROQ, Lightning 100, Amazing Radio, Triple J, Double J & more. TV has also made use of his emotive vocals & melodies, with his songs soundtracking hit shows in the UK. With albums praised for their lyrical skill & willingness to incorporate garage rock, blues, folk and gospel influences into his core country sound, 4th July offers a more direct example of Pearson’s ability to craft nagging pop melodies within a story of betrayal & independence between two lovers. In addition to winning over media tastemakers, Daniel has also been a word-of-mouth success story online with thousands of fans regularly sharing his songs on Twitter, YouTube, Soundcloud & Spotify. This loyal fanbase has powered him to 20,000 iTunes downloads, over 300,000 streams & successful solo tours of the USA & UK. "4th July" is an attention-grabbing introduction to an artist with a wealth of great songs. In an age of conveyor-belt rock & disposable cookie-cutter pop, Pearson is proving himself as a genuine talent built for the long run. The album can best be described by the Danish word, hygge (pronounced as hooga), meaning a sense of warmth, coziness, camaraderie, a welcoming environment. For the first time in a career with many highlights (including recordings with Steve Earle and Ron Sexsmith), Egge gave herself over to a collaborative process, working with Danish indie band The Sentimentals to write and record the songs on the new album in Copenhagen. This kind of full-band approach was new to Egge, but the resulting music has a powerful drive to it that The Sentimentals have honed from years of backing up their favorite American songwriters touring in Denmark like Gurf Morlix, Jonathan Byrd, and Sam Baker. Still, Egge’s signature blend of American prairie folk mixed with clarion-call country songs shines through.
