Listen to the title track HERE December 8, 2017 - Jamie McLean Band has just announced the Feb. 23 release of its new LP, One and Only, produced by ex-Wilco drummer Ken Coomer (Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris) at Nashville's legendary Sound Emporium, and featuring contributions from an impressive list of guest artists, from Americana mainstay Sam Bush to reed man extraordinaire Jeff Coffin (Bela Fleck, Dave Matthews Band) and mesmerizing British singer/songwriter Lucie Silvas. Jamie McLean Band also released the album's title track and lead single today. The song premiered this week at Glide Magazine, who called it McLean's "strongest songwriting to date—straightforward, no frills American guitar rock that brings to mind Americana and alt-country favorites like Jason Isbell, Whiskeytown and The Jayhawks."When Jamie McLean and his band get cooking, signature Gibson Les Paul slung over his shoulder, jangling downhome American rock & roll blaring from the speakers—damn the torpedoes, it’s like 1976 all over again. With the depth and honesty of his songs, and the effortless showmanship of his live performances, you can trace a clean lineage straight back from McLean to the legends whose influence he’s proudly stitched on his sleeve. “I’ve been working at this long enough now that I know what’s going to be a great song and what feels extra,” McLean says. “Tom Petty had the line, ‘Don’t bore us, get to the chorus.’ That always resonated with me.”

Nashville, TN (Press Release)--Nashville-based Americana artist Lynn Taylor has an uncanny knack for composing narratives that detail a two-edged razor, tackling — and even celebrating — both life’s angels and devils in one swoop. On his third release with band the BarFlies, Staggered (set to drop Feb 9th), Taylor continues to flex this talent, this time revealing a staggeringly personal side. The majority of the record was written by Taylor, with his favorite songwriting pal Larry O’Brien — who teamed for what developed out to be a narrative of the emotions surrounding deep grief. Taylor lost his wife, Kim, last year after an ongoing struggle with cancer, and much of the album examines his difficult journey. The set’s "If You're Gone” and “Crumble Away” deal directly with the loss, while others such as the title track, “Rock, Paper, Scissors,” and “Lean Into Me” continue the narrative of healing, as life for those left behind must go on. Co-founder of the Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers and Souther-Hillman-Furay Band took a solo flight on Asylum Records with Slippin’ Away and Clear Sailin’, available together on CD for the first time. LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Press Release) — Chris Hillman co-founded some of the most classic, seminal, groundbreaking acts of the ’60s and ’70s including the Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Manassas, and the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band. But, in the mid 1970s, he decided it was time to try things on his own. The 20-track The Asylum Years compilation, to be released on February 9, 2018 by Omnivore Recordings, combines Hillman’s two Asylum LPs on one CD for the first time. 1976 brought Slippin’ Away, the musical journeyman’s first solo release. Produced by renowned engineers Ron and Howard Albert (Derek and the Dominos, Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix), it was a star-studded affair, featuring members of Booker T. & the M.G.’s, Poco, Buffalo Springfield, the Turtles, and ace studio musicians. Hillman took his place as frontman, and the results were the epitome of the classic ’70s L.A. sound. Red-Hot Collaboration Shatters Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart History Track Is The Third Debut To Ever Top The Chart Nashville, Tenn. (December 8, 2017 Press Release) – Global superstars BEBE REXHA and FLORIDA GEORGIA LINEare making Country music history with the debut of their red-hot collaboration, “Meant to Be,” dominating the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart at #1. Immediately skyrocketing to the chart’s top position, the vibey romantic anthem marks the first #1 Hot County Songs debut in FGL’s already-groundbreaking career, and only the third #1 debut in the chart’s modern history. The track also makes Rexha the first solo female to debut at the chart’s top spot, which according to Billboard gathered 10.4 million U.S. streams in its first week of release while simultaneously landing inside the Top 10 of the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart. “Meant to Be” is now FGL’s sixth #1 on the chart – which measures a combination of radio airplay, sales and streams – and includes their record-breaking 18-week run of “H.O.L.Y.” in 2016 and 24-week reign of “Cruise” in 2012. Featuring a laid-back beat and sultry vocal harmonies, “Meant to Be” was co-written by FGL’s Tyler Hubbard with Rexha, Josh Miller and David Garcia, and appears on Rexha’s new EP, ALL YOUR FAULT: PT. 2. Although not originally envisioned as a Country single, fan demand caused radio stations to begin spinning the track organically, and it was officially released in late November. Its unexpected success highlights FGL’s undeniable dominance as Country continues to evolve, with fans embracing their anything-goes mindset and commitment to staying fresh. The duo is currently back in the studio working on a new album, the follow-up to 2016’s DIG YOUR ROOTS (BMLG Records). Pushing the duo into a bold new stylistic territory and helping them achieve stadium-headliner status, the project included the 3X PLATINUM-certified lead single “H.O.L.Y.” and PLATINUM-certified hits “May We All” (featuring Tim McGraw) and “God, Your Mama, And Me” (featuring Backstreet Boys).
SUSTO released their new Christmas single, "R.I.P. Santa," a tune Baeble calls "so calming and warm, we'll probably be listening to this song way after the holiday season." Read about the story behind the song HERE.
SUSTO is comprised of Justin Osborne (vocals, guitar), Dries Vandenberg (guitar), Marshall Hudson (drums), Jenna Desmond (bass) and Corey Campbell (guitar, keys). The band name derives from a medical syndrome specific to Latin American culture that roughly translates as “panic attack.” For more information visitHERE. Today, Nashville indie-pop duo Airpark has premiered the striking video for "Le Tigre," the propulsive lead single from Early Works, Volume 2, which was released on the band's own label Eugenia Hall Records on September 15th. The video, filled with "sharp objects, churning electric guitars, creepy crawlies, a slithering snake and an abundance of mask appeal," was directed by Nashville filmmaker Ry Cox.
The new EP arrived six months after their debut, Early Works, Volume 1, which showcased the duo's ability to create evocative moments with the most minimal of instrumentation. That sense of minimalism gave way to something heartier as the band began touring the country in early 2017, playing more than 100 shows during the year. Along the way, Airpark bolstered its ranks to a four-piece band for live performances. As the musicians played together, their evolving atmospheric grooves made room for synthesizers, brotherly harmonies, syncopated guitars, melodic hooks and a globally-percussive punch. The foundation for Volume 2 was in place. Back home in Nashville, Airpark recorded Early Works, Volume 2, with engineer and co-producer Ryan McFadden (Torres, Tony Joe White). The tracks were mixed by engineer Gavin Paddock (ZZ Ward, Valerie June) and mastered by Brian Lucey (Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys). A bold expansion of the band's original sound, these four songs show the brothers' ability to connect with the listener in both the loudest and most intimate of songs. Earlier this month, the track debuted on Amazon Music’s “Acoustic Christmas“ playlist, along with new songs from Josh Ritter, Noah Gunderson, Jim Lauderdale and many more. Friends Jack Ingram, Hayes Carll and Eric Church to help honor the Americana grit-and-groover at awards show Feb. 24 at Austin’s Paramount Theatre WIMBERLEY, Texas (Press Release) — In Ray Wylie Hubbard’s defense, maybe he had no idea that by sticking the fork in his 2015 autobiography A Life, Well … Lived, with that little joke about not wanting “to peak too soon,” he was all but guaranteeing that the book would already seem overdue for several new chapters not two years later. Not because he was in any way “done” living at the time — far from it; he’d just long since come to the enlightenment that it’s better to count one’s past and present blessings than to get too caught up in wondering if there are any more coming down the pike. As the road-wizened songwriter put it best in 2012’s “Mother Blues,” “The days I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations, well, I have really good days.” Well, suffice it to say that Hubbard’s cup ‘o gratitude runneth over, because he had more than a few of those “really good days” all through 2016 and 2017. And though he’d be breaking his own rule to expect 2018 to follow suit, rest assured that he’s very much looking forward to at least one guaranteed great day already on his calendar: Saturday, Feb. 24. That’s the night when the famously self-effacing but duly acclaimed poet of Americana grit and groove — whose catalog of classics ranges from the irrepressible (no matter how hard he’s tried!) progressive country anthem “Up Against the Wall, Redneck Mother” to such later-day fan favorites as “The Messenger,” “Conversation with the Devil,” and “Snake Farm” — is scheduled for induction into the Texas Heritage Songwriters’ Association’s (TxHSA) Hall of Fame. This all-volunteer organization — dedicated to the cultural preservation of Texas songwriting and celebration of our exalted troubadours — offers exclusive sponsorship opportunities across a full weekend of events with details available here: https://texasheritagesongwriters.com/contract/ |
