Alabama Rock’n’Roll Stalwarts The Dexateens to Rock SXSW 2017

The Dexateens hit the road to SXSW in support of their latest long player Teenage Hallelujah, out now Cornelius Chapel records. After a brief hiatus the band is revamped and back in the studio for a follow-up record at Dial Back Sound in Water Valley, MS, which is owned by Dexateen/Drive By Trucker Matt Patton.
Since 1998 Tuscaloosa, Alabama’s Dexateens have been traipsing the sanctums of fuzzy garage and indie rock while sopping up classic country music’s best like a buttermilk biscuit swimming in a crock of soul and blues from Memphis and Mississippi like sausage gravy. Best described as a rock’n’roll man’s rock’n’roll band, The Dexateens released eight critically acclaimed records in nearly two decades (the latest being Teenage Hallelujah out now on Cornelius Chapel).

The Dexateens are back and in the rarest of forms with, hands down, their best line-up to date featuring founding members Elliott McPherson on guitar, singin’, and writin’ and Drive-By Truckers’ hired gun Matt Patton’s bass guitar, set to time by Brian Gosdin’s machine gun swing on the skins, coupled with Brad Armstrong (13ghosts) and Ronnie Lee Gipson (Model Citizen, Bad Cologne) on a dual-headed lead guitar attack.
2017 holds a new full-length Struggler, again on Cornelius Chapel this summer and endless touring in support of both releases. Take heed, friends, their live show is second to none, seriously.
