ASHEVILLE, NC (Press Release)-- The Honeycutters have a voice you can’t ignore; a voice of persistence, of struggle and of hope, a voice that leads the new music movement erupting out of Asheville, NC. Poised to release their 4th studio albumOn The Ropes May 20, 2016 on Organic Records, Nashville’s Music City Roots’ Craig Havighurst says principal songwriter and frontwoman, Amanda Anne Platt “has a voice that’s complex, sweet and aching. Even more potently, she writes songs that folks are citing as up there with the best of the field, such as Mary Gauthier and Lucinda Williams.” Along with Platt, The Honeycutters are Rick Cooper (electric and upright bass), Josh Milligan(drums and vocal harmonies), Matt Smith (pedal steel and electric guitar), and Tal Taylor (mandolin). On The Ropes was produced by Amanda Anne Platt and Tim Surrett and engineered and mastered by Van Atkins at Crossroads Studios in Arden, NC. 

Band of Heathens recently released a limited edition fan-direct EP entitled Green Grass. The EP contains four new originals as well as their own take on The Band's "Bessie Smith" (it's fab).

ASHEVILLE, NC -- NPR’s World Cafe, produced by XPN in Philadelphia, brought the show to Asheville’s The Grey Eagle on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 for sold out evening of entertainment with Jon Stickley Trio and The Honeycutters, two Asheville-based bands who have both been making headlines across the country. World Cafe host David Dye was in the house to interview with them during their performances. The airdate to hear both band’s performances is Thursday, March 31st as part of the “Sense of Place: Asheville” series. The full series of “Sense of Place: Asheville” will run starting the week of March 28th. While in town, World Cafe explored Asheville music and musicians with visits to downtown's Echo Mountain Recording Studio including local musicians Steep Canyon Rangers, Tyler Ramsey of Band of Horses, The Get Right Band, and River Whyless.They also interviewed with some movers and shakers in the scene including Jessica Tomasin (Studio Manager at Echo Mountain Recording), Michelle Moog (The Bob Moog Foundation), and Alli Marshall (Author and Mountain Xpress’ Arts Editor) among others.

(Press Release)— On April 22, 2016,Concord Records will release The Vinyl LP Collection, a limited-edition, individually numbered box set celebrating a key period in the prolific solo career of renowned guitarist Lee Ritenour. The Collection contains five classic LPs by Ritenour: Earth Run (1986), Portrait (1987), Festival(1988), Color Rit (1989) and, on vinyl for the first time, the GRAMMY® Award-nominated Wes Bound (1993). These albums have each been remastered, pressed on audiophile-quality, 180-gram vinyl and restored with original artwork and liner notes. An accompanying 46-page bookletcontains new liner notes by Ritenour plus never-before-seen photos and ephemera, all culled from an extensive scrapbook collection lovingly kept by the guitarist’s late father.
 
The Vinyl LP Collection presents a fertile period in a storied career, which began when Ritenour, at the age of 16, was hired as a session guitarist for the Mamas and the Papas, who dubbed him “Captain Fingers” for demonstrating incredible dexterity. Throughout the next decade, Ritenour became one of the most prolific session guitarists, working with the likes of Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett and Quincy Jones. Ritenour’s solo work has earned him a GRAMMY® Award and 19 GRAMMY® nominations. He has recorded more than 40 albums that have yielded 35 charting tracks, and he is widely recognized as one of the best guitarists of his generation.

(Press Release) On March 25th, the Orlando, Florida-based singer songwriter Terri Binion will release The Day After The Night Before, her first album in over fourteen years. This collection of 11 songs summarizes her journey, or attempt rather, at finding some sense of normalcy after enduring a year that saw the tragic loss of her wife, along with both parents, and an aftermath that included a long and unsuccessful bid for justice due to a legal system still struggling to recognize same sex marriage. This week, Elmore Magazine premiered the album in it's entirety:

With each of her previous releases, Leavin' This Town and Fool, she has demonstrated a knack for clear-eyed honesty and a deep understanding of the human condition. On May 3, 2011, Terri Binion's wife was killed in an accident while working on the set of a Cirque du Soleil set in Florida. The tragedy was detailed in feature for Orlando Weekly. Because Binion and her partner were married in the state of California, she could not seek any legal recourse in the state of Florida, who did not recognize same sex marriage at the time.

Nashville, Tenn. (March 23, 2016 Press Release) - This past weekend at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, headliner Brad Paisley ushered in some classic country to help him close the show.  Near the end of the concert, country music legends Larry and Rudy Gatlin of the Gatlin Brothersjoined Paisley onstage for a performance of the brothers' #1 hit song, "Houston."
 
"This past weekend was incredible and one of the highlights of my life," says Larry.  "Playing onstage with Brad in front of 75,000 people at the Houston Astrodome was pretty dang cool.  I wrote Brad a song after we left.  It's called 'The Magician.'  After listening to this song, you'll know the way I feel about him."
