In less than a handful of years, Chamomile and Whiskey has become one of the hottest bands in central Virginia making serious waves up and down the east coast. 

A Chamomile and Whiskey show is a rowdy affair, often sending the sounds of whiskey being spilled, boots stomping, and fans howling towards the Blue Ridge Mountains. The strong connection with the audience has given them a number of great opportunities... including shows with Railroad Earth, Rusted Root, fellow Charlottesville natives The Hackensaw Boys and recently with STEEP CANYON RANGERS and CARBON LEAF.

While Chamomile and Whiskey have all the talent and songwriting to make a successful project, they also possess something more - an infectious energy that sweeps across the stage when they perform. The love they share for each other and the music quickly and emphatically reaches the audience. Chamomile and Whiskey are currently finishing up work on a new album set to release in the Spring of 2016.

Straight ahead, driving bluegrass cuts like the fast moving "Another Weary Mile," the heart breaking ballad "Daddy Doesn't Pray Anymore," paint emotive visuals, as does the booze drenched bar room story "Little White Whiskey Lies." A tribute to the long lasting love shared by Kristy's own mother and father comes to life in "Young Love Never Grows Old." Kristy is a rising talent on an ever-stronger foundation.

Produced by award winning Nashville-based songwriter Jerry Salley, Part of Me, features interesting arrangements that often take unexpected turns, with a unique mixture of veteran, award-winning players, all in support of Cox's amazing vocal performance. Kristy's heart is Bluegrass through and through, and Part of Me shows a part of her that has quickly established her in a noteworthy place in today's international bluegrass scene.

Singer-songwriter and Texas troubadour William Clark Green returns to Hill Country Live in NYC this coming Friday, March 11th. Since his visit a year ago, Green released his critically lauded album, Ringling Road (TDC's #3 album of 2015), which has spawned numerous hits on the Texas charts, and recently recorded his first live album at Gruene Hall (due to be released sometime in the Spring).

One of the most talented young songwriters of today, Green's narratives detail vivid pictures that range from the romantic to the intense to the colorful with keen observations, rare authenticity....and a bit of an edge. 

Green's last apearance at Hill brought out a great crowd, and this week will surely be no different. Be sure to come out for a great night of music.

Sasha McVeigh is the Hereford born and raised singer/songwriter currently taking the States by storm. Having been the only British act to appear on the main stage of no less than 5 of the US' most prominent country festivals, Sasha unveiled her debut album I Stand Alone to critical acclaim last year. Declared 'a ray of sunshine' by Taste of Country, Sasha is excited to be debuting new material on her upcoming tour, where she will be joined by American Young and Loveless Effect.

Ahead of the tour, Sasha's has unveiled new single, "When I'm Over You."

Of the single, Sasha said 'When I'm Over You' is a song that wasn’t meant to be written because, by writing it, I had to admit what I’d spent so long trying to hide. I wasn’t over him. But letting myself be vulnerable and writing this song made me realise it’s okay not to have moved on. It’s okay to be sad sometimes because that proves what I felt was real. One day I will let him go but until then I’ll keep that unnamed number in my phone.'

(Nashville, TN Press Release) March 4, 2016 — On the heels of an acclaim-filled year with bluegrass band Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, the group’s bandleader and mandolinist, Frank Solivan, releases his highly anticipated solo release, Family, Friends & Heroes. 

Available today on Compass Records, Family, Friends & Heroes is a labor of love and a stellar piece of work. A nod to the musical heroes inside and outside of Solivan’s family, the project features Dirty Kitchen members, some of Solivan’s own kinfolk, and several special musical guests.

Vocal highlights include Roy Orbison’s “Pretty Woman,” featuring Del McCoury, John Cowan’s mighty tenor against Solivan’s lead on the John Denver classic, “Leaving On A Jet Plane,” and the moving alto of Lorene Solivan (Frank’s late mother) on “Wayfaring Stranger,” in what turned out to be her last recording.

Instrumentally, too, the album shines. Solivan’s take on “Dark Hollow,” featuring Sam Bush, was dubbed by Glide Magazine one of the album’s “standout collaborations, a beautifully unfiltered and natural rendition that captures two massively talented musicians in their natural habitat, jamming simply for the joy of it.”

Celebrating their 45th anniversary as a pioneering roots label, Rounder Records has spent the past several months making available digitally many of the numerous titles in its catalog. In February, Rounder offered a New Orleans-centric selection of R&B, blues, jazz and Cajun music for Mardi Gras. Now, in March, Rounder will continue their reissue initiative with twenty-one classic bluegrass titles being available digitally for the first time. The selections (available at all digital retailers), including such loved artists as The Louvin Brothers, The Cox Family, The Stanley Brothers and The Del McCoury Band, should enthrall bluegrass enthusiasts and music lovers everywhere.

A second set of bluegrass titles will be reissued in August. 

Rounder began in 1970 by three college friends (and passionate music lovers), "to record, preserve, and pioneer the development of roots music and its contemporary offshoots."  It was not originally intended to become a business, but the reception their first releases earned drove the trio to do more.
