Stream “Won’t Be Long” via SoundCloud Pre-Order Unsung Passage Now The Dead Tongues are thrilled to announce the forthcoming album, Unsung Passage, due out May 18th on Psychic Hotline. The record’s lead single (and opening track), “Won’t Be Long,” is premiering today on Stereogum, who write that "[Unsung Passage] blends strains of folk, blues, country, and rock for meditations that can balance pangs of yearning with true wonder, that can conjure up the swamps of the south as well as the plains out in the middle of the country." The brainchild of Ryan Gustafson, who’s also toured as a guitarist with Hiss Golden Messenger and Phil Cook’s Guitarheels, The Dead Tongues serves as the moniker for Gustafson’s unique and profound perspective on love and loneliness. On Unsung Passage he effortlessly blurs the lines between folk, country, blues, and distinctly American rock music. Stay tuned for further announcements in the coming weeks. Ryan Gustafson remembers very little about the origins of the ten songs on Unsung Passage, his profound new reflection on the emotional architecture of love, loneliness, and life at large.

The Bluegrass Situation debuted "Stay Outta My Business": http://bit.ly/2pyKyyv AUCKLAND, New Zealand (Press Release)— Tami Neilson won’t be staying New Zealand’s secret for much longer. For the past decade, the Canadian-born, New Zealand-based singer/songwriter has been the queen of her adopted homeland’s country and roots music scenes. She picked up handful of Best Country Album awards at the New Zealand Music Awards and won the prestigious APRA Silver Scroll for excellence in songwriting. With her new album, SASSAFRASS! (due June 1, 2018 on Outside Music), Neilson takes a giant step that should only bring her more widespread acclaim. On this 11-track effort, she places a heavier emphasis on soul music while not abandoning her country and rockabilly roots. Neilson conjures up a wonderfully retro style that sounds like it could be a lost gem from the late ’50s or early ’60s; however, beneath the classic veneer are frank, highly relevant lyrics.
Race the Tide is the latest project from multi-instrumentalist Jesse Macht who conceived the project after he was confronted with an actual and metaphorical broken heart. On his 30th birthday, he was diagnosed with an SVT -- an extra electrical impulse in the heart that pushed his heart rate to over 260 BPM when performing -- and risked cardiac arrest. A few days later, he was forced to retire his band Burn Down the Mission after a nine year run, and a three year relationship with his girlfriend. After confronting his creative and physical mortality, he began unabashedly chasing down his life’s dreams. And so, the metaphor of racing the tide before it comes in was born.
Race The Tide is an album that’s rooted in the idea of collaboration. While Macht wrote, played guitar, and keyboards on much of the record, as well as co-produced the effort with Justin Tocket (Andres Osborne, Pet Fangs), other players include Rob Humphreys and Gavin Salmon on drums, Tyler Carrol (Allen Stone) on bass, Ken Belcher on guitar, and Will Herrington (Lukas Graham), Mark McKee, and Ben Allemon (Ryan Adams, Grace Potter) on keys. “This record asks me to confront endings and new beginnings, knowing that all happen continuously and continue to cycle,” says Macht. “As the tide comes in, I know it’ll pull me back out… giving in and letting go to that process is the challenge I’m working through via these songs.” Macht recently shared a song from the album, "Dayenu," an atmospheric ballad of hope led by Macht's warm vocals and a serene coupling of guitar and percussion. Libertyville, IL (Press Release) Indie rock singer-songwriter Ike Reilly is set to release his seventh studio album, Crooked Love, on CD and digital formats on May 18, 2018 via Rock Ridge Music. (A vinyl version will be released later this year.) Since his major label debut, the groundbreaking Salesmen and Racists, Reilly has been making punk/folk/blues influenced rock ’n’ roll records that lean heavily on stories of outsiders with keen details and broad strokes that insinuate a crack in the American dream. Reilly’s band, The Assassination, has been called one of the best live bands in America, and the body of recorded work they’ve turned out has been poetic, rebellious, wholly original, and critically acclaimed. Still, Reilly and co-producer Phil Karnats (Secret Machines, Tripping Daisy, Polyphonic Spree) felt that Reilly’s best takes had never been recorded. The lucidity and rhythm of Reilly’s performances that Karnats had witnessed in hotel rooms, backstage, and on tour buses had never been captured. “I wanted to create a setting where Ike could sing and play guitar at the same time, with the band in the same room... no headphones and minimal isolation,” says Karnats. “There's always been a freshness to playing the songs together that's hard to harness when recording in the more common, modern, sense where you do rhythm tracks first, then overdubs and vocals last. This time, Ike did his thing and we developed the arrangements based on his vocal approach, cadence, phrasing, intensity and all that. I think, in the end, we ended up with some killer songs that have a strangely unique, slightly off-center, vibe.”
California musician and songwriter Madeline Matthews', MAWD, compositions fuse rock’n’roll, folk/blues and pop. Her current single, "Dark Room" profiles the feeling of isolation that so many of us experience. She notes, “I felt like I was going crazy, sitting in my dark dingy dorm room, struggling with the longing for a comforting feeling, trying to fit in, feeling like a stranger in my skin, and discovering a new dark part of my mind."
Led by gritty guitars, and driving rhythms, "Dark Room" takes that hollow hopelessness and delivers the light via MAWD's assured, raw, and soulful vocals. "Dark Room" is currently available worldwide.
