INSTAGRAM FACEBOOK YOUTUBE WEBSITE Huntington Beach, CA - March 16, 2018 (Partial Press Release) - David Rosales has teamed up with Trail Runner Magazine to exclusively premiere the music video for "Good to Be Alive" - the first single off of his freshman full-length album, Brave Ones, due out April 27, 2018. The video is available to watch HERE. "Good to Be Alive" is Rosales' love song to Mother Nature, ode to trail running, and a song about getting into rhythm with the natural world, and ultimately finding yourself. On the track, Rosales shares, "One of the things I love about running is there is direct correlation. Meaning, you get out of it exactly what you put in. Every mile is earned. You either hit your goal or you don't. Patience is a virtue. Consistency is king. Quitting is not an option. So many life lessons packed into the simplicity of running. All you have to do is take the first step." Brave Ones is set to be released on April 27, 2018, and is available for pre-order on iTunes HERE. Over the course of his 50-year-plus career, one of Tom Rush’s defining gifts has been his ear for the faint voices of significant new songs by little-known writers. The New England-based singer-guitarist, a surviving giant of the early ’60s folk boom, was among the very first to record future standards by then-fledgling performers Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and Jackson Browne on his 1968 album The Circle Game; he brought a later generation of singer-songwriters such as Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin to wider audiences as part of his tours. Taylor and country music superstar Garth Brooks have both named him as a major influence. Until his new Voices CD (Appleseed Recordings, April 27, 2018), Rush has been heard only sparingly as a songwriter, with only a few tantalizing handfuls of originals – about 20 – spread out over eleven studio albums, most notably “No Regrets,” a classic of stoic farewell on that ’68 LP that later became a multi-genre chart hit in three cover versions. Voices is the first album ever of all-Rush originals, ten relaxed, warmhearted, amused and sometimes thoughtful songs that perfectly reflect Tom’s wry persona. (Harkening back to Rush’s early ’60s roots in Boston as a folk/blues interpreter are two traditional tracks, “Corina, Corina” and the opening “Elder Green,” included because “I didn’t want to compromise my folksinger credentials,” Tom explains in the liner notes.) He writes songs shorn of elaborate metaphors, preferring straightforward, evocative emotional settings. Then his warm baritone, tanned by experience, humor and melancholy, shines right through the lyrics, illuminating them from within. Don't miss the chance to see him in NYC on April 13th. Details below. When: Friday, April 13th Where: The Rubin (Museum) NYC 150 W. 17th St. Showtime: 8:30 p.m. Tickets: $41 - $50 http://rubinmuseum.org/events/event/tom-rush-04-13-2018 LONDON, UK - (March 16th, 2018 Press Release) ) - One of the most celebrated forces to breakthrough in country music, Lindsay Ell, took time out of her packed US touring schedule last weekend to come to London for the genre’s biggest weekend in the UK - Country to Country (C2C) Festival - and by all accounts has emerged as one of the highlight acts. Having released the UK edition of the #1 debut album ‘The Project’ last Friday (March 9th) she performed no less than five sets across the festival, culminating in a main arena sloton Sunday, before headliners Emmylou Harris and Little Big Town took to the stage, and Ell closed the weekend with a late-night aftershow party set. This week the singer-songwriter, who has received national radio play for her singles ‘Waiting On You’ and "Criminal" and rave reviews for the album (5* in Maverick Magazine), took part in a series of co-headline dates with Sugarland star - and ‘The Project’ producer - Kristian Bush across the UK, with a packed final show last night in Manchester. Praising her C2C performances, The Digital Fix described the “mind bendingly brilliant guitar-led sound… Ell is totally taking her brand of GRL PWR places”; while leading teen station Wizard Radio, who had "Criminal" at the #1 Country airplay slot all weekend, said“Ell took over the Spotlight Stage, shining a light as one of the most exciting female rockers… the short set was a crowd-pleaser proving that she has everything it takes to become a major player on the scene”. Relix Magazine Premieres First Single “Borderline” March 16, 2018 (Press Release) -- From a source deep, abundant, and pure the river flows. It’s there on the map, marking place and time. Yet, the river changes as it remains a constant, carving away at the edges, making new pathways, gaining strength as it progresses forward. The Travelin’ McCourys are that river. On May 25th, the band will release their debut self-titled, self-produced album recorded at The Butcher Shoppe in Nashville. The Travelin’ McCourys is a mix of originals and well-fitting, road-perfected covers (two Grateful Dead tunes and John Hartford’s “Natural To Be Gone” for example); the song choices a recorded snapshot of the band’s live show. Today, Relix Magazine premieres the video for the first single “Borderline” recorded live at DelFest. Watch here. The McCoury brothers- Ronnie (mandolin) and Rob (banjo) - were born into the bluegrass tradition. Talk about a source abundant and pure: their father, Del, is among the most influential and successful musicians in the history of the genre. Years on the road with Dad in the Del McCoury Band honed their knife-edge chops, and encouraged the duo to imagine how traditional bluegrass could cut innovative pathways into 21st century music. With fiddler Jason Carter, bassist Alan Bartram, and latest recruit Cody Kilby on guitar, they assembled a group that could take what they had in their DNA, take what traditions they learned and heard, and push the music forward. In fact, the band became the only group to have each of its members recognized with an International Bluegrass Music Association Award for their instrument at least once. There were peers, too, that could see bluegrass as both historic and progressive. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, The Allman Brothers Band, improv-rock kings Phish, and jamband contemporary Keller Williams were just a few that formed a mutual admiration society with the ensemble. April 27-28-29 SpringFest at the Oak Tree in Anita, Iowa --- Aug. 27-Sept 2 42nd National Old Time Music Festival in LeMars, Iowa. --- Oct. 5-6-7 Rural Roots Music Gathering in Fremont, Nebr. LeMars, Iowa (Press Release)....Forty-three years ago, Smithsonian Institution recording artist, Bob Everhart voluntarily stepped forward to help create an old-time music festival celebrating America's bicentennial in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He also wanted to make a statement about America's many musical genres that were very 'American.' It was a huge success. Bob's mentor, Marjorie Guthrie (widow of Woody) was right there in the front row for the first two festivals Bob directed. Her last wish, before she passed away, was his encouragement to keep doing it. When the festival was over however, no one wanted to continue it, except Bob. He did continue it, at Mrs. Guthrie's urging, and is still directing it...43 years later at the age of 82. "We formed a 501(c)3 non-profit to help us keep it going," he said, "and it's become an oasis for all kinds of acoustic music makers from the entire upper Midwest, as well as from around the world. Every picker, player, performer, singer, that has ever been involved with America's early acoustic musical art forms, traditional country, bluegrass, folk, rural music, mountain, blues, cowboy & western, hillbilly, ragtime, old time gospel, is invited to attend. We can't pay everyone who comes of course, but scheduled performers get free gate passes for all seven days. There are ten stages to perform on, and that in itself is a massive amount of work for myself and my wife Sheila, and our daughter Bobbie Lhea. It's kind of like running ten small festivals all at the same time. It takes a lot of volunteers to help us make that all happen. Volunteers also get free 7-day gate passes, and in some of the 'necessary' spots, free camping. We started 'honoring' those from the past that made such huge contributions to these various genres of music by inducting them into America's Old Time Music Hall of Fame. We have inducted just about everyone of celebrity status and will continue to do that, but this year we'd like to honor every single acoustic picker and singer we can by focusing our attention on acoustic music makers no matter where they are from." |
