Magfest Family and Friends,

After much thought and consideration, it is with heavy hearts that we announce that we will not be producing Magnolia Fest at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in 2016. Instead we will host a Magnolia Fest 20th Anniversary Celebration in St Augustine at the St. Augustine Amphitheater. It will be a one day event on Saturday, October 15 with a pre-party on Friday, October 14. St Augustine is a beautiful city with wonderful beaches, there are a lot of hotels and also camping right next to the venue, with easy access to the Jacksonville Airport. Details will be released in the next couple of weeks.

Rising costs for talent, production and the inability to negotiate a deal with the Spirit of Suwannee make it impossible to do this event in Live Oak without a substantial increase in ticket prices or a reduction in the quality of the show.

Magnolia Fest has been a magical experience for years and a place for family and friends to come together every fall to enjoy some of the best music in the country. Always cherish those memories.

Nashville, TENN (Press Release) --- The country’s hottest young Bluegrass band was chosen by SiriusXM Radio to record a masterful acoustic rendition of one of today’s most well-known themes, which will be used to promote the Bluegrass offerings on SiriusXM.
 
Flatt Lonesome, in cooperation with Mountain Home Music Company and SiriusXM Radio, is has just released a bluegrass version of the main theme from the wildly popular HBO series, Game of Thrones.

The IBMA’s 2014 Emerging Artist of the Year winning band was hand-picked by the staff of the SiriusXM Bluegrass Junctionchannel to arrange and record the theme. Arranged by Tim Surrett of the band Balsam Range, the song was recorded at the studio of Mountain Home in Arden, NC. Flatt Lonesome is signed to the Mountain Home label. The band also performed
the theme live at the SiriusXM Music City Theater in Nashville.
 
The epic instrumental received a treatment that moves from the familiar 3/4 tempo fans of the show know so well, into a rousing 4/4 romp that only an outstanding, top-flight bluegrass outfit like Flatt Lonesome can render.

To celebrate the highly-anticipated premiere of Season 6 of the series, SiriusXM will feature the recording on Bluegrass Junction, Channel 61, which can be heard across North America. In addition, SiriusXM has posted a video of the Flatt Lonesome’s performance on its YouTube channel. The project is being promoted on www.siriusxm.com as well as on its Facebook and Twitter.

SEATTLE, Wash. (Press Release)— “So many things have changed, either by choice or by circumstance, in the six years between this album and the one before it,” the Posies’ Ken Stringfellow notes while discussing Solid States, the band’s first album of new material since 2010’s acclaimed Blood/Candy. 

The album, due out May 20, 2016 on MyMusicEmpire, will be preceded by the Posies’ Solid States Secret Shows tour of the U.S., launching in scenic Van Nuys, Calif. on April 28 and wrapping in Oakland on May 29 (dates below). 

“We’ve had two bandmates die, a divorce and remarriage, a transoceanic move ... There’s been good things and difficult things, but nothing is in the same place for us.  So it makes sense that this record would sound different from its predecessors.”

“I think it’s our most adventurous record to date,” adds fellow singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist Jon Auer, Stringfellow’s longstanding musical partner. “There was the conscious idea to strive for something different from the Posies of past, to use different colors and flavors. That was the plan, but then life had its way with our concepts and schedules, and threw many profound, out-of-the-park curveballs in our direction. By this point, we’d already painted ourselves into a musical corner, which ultimately left us no other option but to figure our way out, bit by bit, wave form by wave form.” 

Indeed, Solid States marks a timely creative milestone for the Posies, reinventing their sound while reaffirming the vibrant creative chemistry that’s kept them a vital creative force for nearly three decades. The head-turning 12-song set finds Auer and Stringfellow largely trading the band’s established guitar-based sound for an expanded sonic palette, drawing upon an imaginative array of electronic textures and unconventional rhythmic twists. Such startling new tunes as “We R Power,” “Unlikely Places,” “Scattered,” “Titanic,” “Squirrel vs. Snake” and “Radiance” consistently defy expectations, while maintaining the Posies’ trademark melodic sensibility and vocal harmonies. The new songs, and the retooled sound, reflect the recent changes in the musicians' lives, including the deaths of two longtime band members, drummer Darius Minwalla and bassist Joe Skyward, in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

“We put so much of ourselves into making Solid States, in spite of — and probably because of — all the upheaval we had to deal with,” Auer states.  “I personally will never, ever forget this year and the previous year, losing people so close to us. It's a definite ‘before’ and ‘after’ time in life right now to me.”

Randy Rogers is a pioneering spirit in music and in business. With 10 albums -- including Randy's solo project 'Hold My Beer: Volume 1' recorded with best friend Wade Bowen -- the Randy Rogers Band is one of the biggest names in the hard-ticket touring circuit, consistently selling out venues including The Troubadour in Los Angeles and Terminal 5 in Manhattan. His creativity, leadership and business vision spawned the launch of a new artist management company, Big Blind Management, named for Rogers' committment to being in the game. "If you're going to succeed," says Rogers, "you have to be committed to being in the game. We are."

"Starting a management company is something that I have been thinking about for quite some time," shares Rogers. "Because our band tours so much, I have the opportunity to meet many talented people on the road. My goal is to help some of these artists in understanding the lesson I learned a long time ago from my friend Kent Finlay: 'There's music and then there's the music business.' Robin Schoepf, my partner in the management company, has been my personal day-to-day manager for more than 13 years. We have seen it all and are interested in working alongside artists we believe in."

The New Braunfels, Texas-based company's first signing is Red Shahan.

"Red has a uniqueness in his approach to songwriting and performing that we feel will soon propel him into the spotlight he deserves. He's one of the guys that will make great records for some time to come," continues Rogers.
Artists moving under the new company's charge from Ro-Jo Management are Seth James, Jamie Lin Wilson and Randy Rogers. (The Randy Rogers Band will continue to be managed by 377/Red Light out of Nashville.)

Parker Millsap blends elements of Mississippi John Hurt-style blues, old school country and his Pentecostal upbringing to create a sound uniquely his own.
