Nashville, Tenn. (May 19, 2017 Press Release) – Bold new Big Loud Records artist Jillian Jacqueline has today (5/19) released her raw – yet tender – new track and video, “Hate Me.” Fearlessly laying her heart on the table, the song is now available across all digital and streaming platforms and its gritty music video is premiering on CMT and VEVO. Co-written by Jacqueline with Tofer Brown and Hillary Lindsey, “Hate Me” cuts straight to the core of a broken relationship, pleading for a reason to give it up once and for all. "'Hate Me' is such a moment of emotional exposure for me,” reveals Jacqueline. "It was very stream-of-consciousness to write, and conveys a coping-mechanism perspective that compels me to take all of the blame for the pain that is about to be caused by a breakup. Hatred and anger make people easier to walk away from, so the phrase 'hate me' is actually a way of saving yourself from having to bear the sadness from breaking someone’s heart." (May 18, 2017 Press Release) – Country Music Hall of Famer and GRAMMY® award-winning living legend Bobby Bare recently told the story of how he helped shape the iconic Fender Stratocaster along with Leo Fender. Although Bare’s first guitar was a Martin, he quickly grew to love Fender and purchased a Telecaster – one of his favorite guitars. While performing in South California, Leo Fender used to visit Bare during rehearsals as his factory was just a block away from the venue Bare was performing. Leo Fender would ask Bare and his guitarist what they thought about his new guitar. Bare gave Fender valuable advice about the guitars shape and before long, the Stratocaster was born. Click here to watch a clip of Bobby Bare discussing his relationship with Leo Fender. Bare will release THINGS CHANGE on May 26, which features a collaboration with Chris Stapleton. The album is Bare’s first studio project in five years and is available for pre-sale now at BobbyBare.com and all CD's purchased through Bare's website will be autographed. THINGS CHANGE is the follow-up to Bare's critically-acclaimed album DARKER THAN LIGHT. Nashville, TN (May 19, 2017 Press Release) - Singer/songwriter Jeffrey Halford's eighth CD, Lo-Fi dreams, drops today - taking listeners to places they've been ... and places they will never go. Dirty Linen called Halford "Hemingway armed with a Blues guitar" and it is an apt description, but one that falls short of portraying the pure aural wonder of this new disc. To salute the release, Roughstock premiered "Door # 3" yesterday. The Alternate Root will shine the spotlight on "Good Trouble" tomorrow. Fans can purchase in vinyl or digital formats at iTunes , Amazon, Amazon UK and retailers everywhere. The 10-track collection, recorded in San Francisco and released on Floating Records, offers listeners a stripped-down journey of tube amplifiers pushing the speakers to obliteration. Adam Rossi and Jeffrey co-produced, using vintage equipment and Sears Silvertone, Danelectro and Harmony brand guitars from the 1950s and '60s to create a warm, fuzzy sound. Halford composed all the songs, and reigns supreme on his National Resophonic guitar. That signature sound is featured throughout. "Elvis Shot The Television " rips and tears its way through the last bloated, storied Las Vegas days of the King, while "Door # 3" shimmers and shines with "surfer" guitar while imagining love American-style as a game show. "Good Trouble" was inspired by civil rights leader and Georgia congressman John Lewis. The revivalist feel is compelling and the message is as timely today as it has ever been. A picker's journey home, "10,000 Miles" relates the desire for the road and a lover left behind as it pulls the track relentlessly forward. The disc closes with "Great Divide," a story of a couple's breakup put forth as a metaphor for America's current political partisanship. DENVER, CO (Press Release) -- Andy Hall of The Infamous Stringdusters and Roosevelt Collier of the Lee Boys have come together on a new album, Let The Steel Play, which is set for independent release June 16, 2017. Let the Steel Play was born out of a love of slide guitar, and a friendship made through music. Andy Hall and Roosevelt Collier met in 2012 on Jam Cruise, and began playing music together when their paths would cross. Both are sought after sit-in players at festivals throughout the country and known for their dexterity, versatility, and intuitive knack for picking up rhythms and melodies. Andy comes from the world of bluegrass, and cut his teeth in Nashville’s vibrant country and bluegrass scene having performed with Earl Scruggs, Ryan Adams, and Dolly Parton (who he is also on two albums with). Roosevelt "The Dr." was born into the Sacred Steel sound, learning lap and pedal steel at a young age directly under his uncles and grandfather in the House of God church his family attended in Perrine, FL. Roosevelt has performed alongside BB King, Widespread Panic, The Allman Brothers, and Del McCoury Band. Coming from different backgrounds and methods, yet brought together through slide guitar, Roosevelt and Andy have joined forces to create a musical bridge that emanates a freshness, yet honors both traditions. The bluegrass tradition is highlighted by classics such as a haunting and melodic version of “A Maiden’s Prayer,” which was written initially for piano in Poland and made popular in the 1930’s in America by Bob Wills who arranged it on fiddle in a more Western Swing style and added lyrics; it was later recorded by Buck Owens and Willie Nelson. Let The Steel Play also includes the 1920’s folk song made popular by Flatts and Scruggs, “Reuben’s Train,” which is jazzed up even more in it’s evolution here. Faouzia. The Grand Prize winners take home $25,000 in cash (USD) and over $45,000 in additional prizes. The song is a duet and is the perfect synergy between the seasoned songwriter Epp and the up-and-coming young artist Faouzia. It showcases the talents of each songwriter and singer, interweaving the yin and yang of Epps stark, tender vocals with Faouzias soaring delivery. The collaboration came about while Epp was on tour in Germany and received an email from his infant daughter, who he had been writing to since she was a newborn. The unexpected email from her read "What sound does a longing heart make? In a hotel bathroom, he tearfully wrote the chorus of this song. Fast forward a few months to when Epp was assigned to mentor a group of talented young performers; among the participants in the program was Faouzia. Perhaps unlikely kindred spirits, Epp and Faouzia formed a quick friendship, and they finished the song together. The song went to #1 on the CBC Radio 2 chart, and it recently earned the SOCAN No.1 Song Award in Canada based on its radio success. Nashville, Tenn. People who think it's weird that Josh Radnor has started a band have just not been paying attention. He's posted a song of the day on his twitter feed for years and talked about music extensively in his Museletter (which you can sign up for here http://joshradnor.instapage.com).
And of course, Ben Lee has been around forever, beginning his career as a young teenager in the early '90s as the vocalist for Australian lo-fi punk band Noise Addict, who performed with Sonic Youth, Pavement, Fugazi & more, and was signed the Beastie Boys' Grand Royal label. In his almost 25-year career, Lee has worked artists such as with Zooey Deschanel, Mandy Moore, Ben Folds, Ben Kweller, Neil Finn, Azure Ray & countless others. With his last full-length, 2016's Freedom, Love & the Recuperation of the Human Mind, and his recent children's record, 2017's Ben Lee Sings Songs about Islam for the Whole Family, Lee has shown a penchant for crafting quirky, catchy songs that tackle life's biggest questions. With Radnor & Lee, he and his simpatico collaborator further explore faith and spirituality. While the content of the music may be getting a few raised eyebrows, it's the sound of the songs that is winning people over. The song is the title track off his forthcoming album, Waiting on A Song due June 2nd on Easy Eye Sound. Says Auerbach: "Not only does the video evoke the feeling of the song, but it also pays tribute to the great tradition of Nashville songwriters. It was fun to have John Prine and Pat McLaughlin have cameos in the video as I wrote the song with them. It also has appearances by other Nashville songwriters, like Michael Heeney and Luke Dick, as well as David Ferguson who was the executive producer on the album with me." Added director Bryan Schlam about his inspiration: “When I first heard ‘Waiting On A Song’, I instantly thought about summer hijinks, basically anything that could happen during the last summer between high school and college. I’ve always wanted to make a movie about that weight, the feeling of moving from childhood to pseudo adulthood.” Watch the video for “Waiting on A Song” here. Waiting On A Song is Auerbach’s follow-up to 2009’s Keep It Hid and is his love letter to Nashville. As such, he recruited some of Nashville’s most respected players to write and record his latest, including John Prine, Duane Eddy, Jerry Douglas, Pat McLaughlin as well as Bobby Wood and Gene Chrisman of the Memphis Boys. Auerbach said about working with his musical heroes: “Living in Nashville has definitely changed the way I think about music and the way that I record it. I didn’t have all of these resources before. I am working with some of the greatest musicians that ever lived.” Waiting On A Song is available for pre-order on CD, vinyl, and digitally. The album will also be available in limited-edition bundles, including an exclusive 8 track and a vintage 8 track player signed and customized by Auerbach, a seat cushion and various autographed and colored vinyl sets. Pre-order the album on all formats here. Today, Dan Auerbach also announces tour dates opening for John Prine, with whom he wrote the title track off Waiting On A Song. Auerbach will open for Prine in Charleston, Charlotte, Washington D.C., and Richmond, and tickets are on sale now here. |
