 NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 20, 2016 Press Release) -- The Grand Ole Opry® and Southwest Airlines®, in partnership with BBR Music Group, are returning to the heart of New York City for a three-week series of free acoustic performances at the Southwest Porch at Bryant Park.
The Circle in the City summer series is set to feature three acts who have become Opry fan favorites: Parmalee, July 26; Lindsay Ell, August 2; Thompson Square, August 9. All shows will begin at 8:30 p.m. Each of the artists will travel to Manhattan with the Opry’s signature microphone stand and will continue the 90th anniversary year tradition of throwing down a replica of the famed circle of wood from center stage at the Opry House, a la an “Opry Circle Throwdown.” Fans can watch each of the shows live on the Opry’s Facebook page. New York’s NASH FM 94.7 will host the Bryant Park concerts. Each performance is open to the public, and seating will be based on a first-come first-served basis. Other guests will be invited to be a part of each performance in the park outside the perimeter of the Southwest Porch. Details will be available via social media and at opry.com. Ell and Thompson Square are set to follow their Tuesday night New York City performances with Wednesday night appearances at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Fan will be able to follow their journeys from New York to the Opry via social media and at opry.com/oprybound, where they can also win an OpryBound VIP package including airfare to Music City aboard Southwest Airlines, hotel accommodations, and Opry prizing.

Passionate fans of the group all have a favorite GT album, and the band’s drummer, Gil Ray, refers to The Big Shot Chronicles as his favorite in an revealing discussion with set co-producer and Game Theory constant/confidant Dan Vallor in the new set’s liner notes. The original 12-track album, produced by Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Let’s Active, Velvet Crush, Pavement), featured an expansion of the band’s sound, and contains the MTV 120 Minutes staple “Erica’s Word.” For its 30th anniversary, 13 tracks have been added — nine of which are previously unissued. From demos, outtakes, rough mixes, and live tracks, one can see the sonic trajectory the band was on — leading up to their arguable magnum opus, Lolita Nation.  (Brooklyn, NY) Over the years, Monmouth Beach, NJ-based singer-songwriter Colton Kayser has made a name for himself in the re-emerging Asbury Park scene with his talents shining on stages and shoreline boardwalks. Kayser now enters the Summer of 2016 with his most fully realized vision to date, Place To Settle.
 Michael Lesousky recently released the single "Hope & Desolation" from his debut album Deep Shade of Blue (click for Bandcamp) due on August 16th.
"Hope & Desolation" showcases Lesousky’s evocative storytelling and emotive melody craft. The story leads us down a trail of despair while holding onto the flame of desire. Lesousky laments “There are people who won’t look me in the eye/I do my dance they don’t blink as they walk by." And, in reference to the light of hope, he says “It’s all I’ve all got in this land full of desolation/Is Canaan somewhere in my dreams or just beyond the corner of this lonely street?” Athens’ own Mamie Davis layers her harmony over the chorus, echoing “Here I am, take me where you want.” As the closing track of Deep Shade of Blue, the song deftly ties together the themes of heartbreak and despair. Lesousky has played numerous venues and festivals around the Southeast. He is currently the frontman for Grassland String Band. Born and raised in Florida, he has lived in Athens, Georgia since 2011 and will relocate to Franklin, TN with his wife in August 2016.
