Michael Lesousky recently released the single "Hope & Desolation" from his debut album Deep Shade of Blue (click for Bandcamp) due on August 16th. "Hope & Desolation" showcases Lesousky’s evocative storytelling and emotive melody craft. The story leads us down a trail of despair while holding onto the flame of desire. Lesousky laments “There are people who won’t look me in the eye/I do my dance they don’t blink as they walk by." And, in reference to the light of hope, he says “It’s all I’ve all got in this land full of desolation/Is Canaan somewhere in my dreams or just beyond the corner of this lonely street?” Athens’ own Mamie Davis layers her harmony over the chorus, echoing “Here I am, take me where you want.” As the closing track of Deep Shade of Blue, the song deftly ties together the themes of heartbreak and despair. Lesousky has played numerous venues and festivals around the Southeast. He is currently the frontman for Grassland String Band. Born and raised in Florida, he has lived in Athens, Georgia since 2011 and will relocate to Franklin, TN with his wife in August 2016.
