This new Pure & Simple project is really special to me because I’m taking my fans back to my roots. I feel like these songs have a pure, tender side and we didn’t go overboard with arrangements. I’m so glad we’ve teamed up with our friends at Sony to get this album out to the fans,” said Dolly Parton. NEW YORK, N.Y. — “There’s a lot going on in this world between the good, the bad and the in-between, and this album attempts to ride some of those horses,” Willie Nile says of his memorably-titled new album World War Willie, which was released April 1, 2016 on River House Records. The dozen-song set lives up to Nile’s reputation as a world-class songwriter, a singularly energetic performer and a true rock ’n’ roll believer. Currently in the fourth decade of a recording career that’s yielded a panoply of musical riches, the New York-bred artist is currently experiencing an exciting renaissance at a time when many of his contemporaries are winding down or giving up. Nile will play Brooklyn Bowl at 61 Wythe Ave in Brooklyn When: Thursday July 14th Showtime: 8 p.m. Tickets: $12-$15 (Press Release) Grammy nominated guitar-slinger, troublemaker, raconteur, producer, and Georgia boy Butch Walker will release his 8th studio album Stay Gold on August 26 via Dangerbird Records. As a writer of dozens of songs with hooks that stick in your head, Walker has penned choruses you want to sing (or shout) along to from acts including Frank Turner, Brian Fallon, Taylor Swift, and many more. He is a teller of authentic stories of exploits and predicaments and romance that are filled with optimism; builder of albums with no boundaries - rock, pop, Americana, singer-songwriter…or, as he says, “I think it’s all just rock & roll.” Today, Walker debut his new song "Descending" featuring a duet with Grammy nominated country singer Ashley Monroe - LISTEN HERE Walker's last album, 2015’s Ryan Adams’ produced Afraid Of Ghosts, was a cathartic record that dealt with a devastating personal experience, the passing of his father. This one’s a celebration. The stories on Stay Gold are very well fleshed out, something Butch credits to “growing up on some of those dudes - Elton John and the (Bernie) Taupin lyrics, Springsteen and Joel." It kicks off with the title song, a straight-ahead rocker, loaded with swagger and lyrics that call out native GA locales featuring a nod to the S.E. Hinton novel (and later, a Coppola film), The Outsiders. The lead single "East Coast Girl" and "Mexican Coke" are inspired by Walker's move to Los Angeles, the former effectively combining an anthemic chorus with spoken verses, recorded conversationally on an iPhone. The writerly eye for detail is apparent in one of Stay Gold's standout tracks, "Wilder In The Heart", describing an airport meeting with a girlfriend. Overall, Stay Gold is clearly Walker's most articulate to date. When asked if the stories are real or imagined, he replies, “All the songs are half true.” The album is now available for pre-order with "East Coast Girl" and title track "Stay Gold" as an instant grat download. In addition, Walker will set out on a North American tour with openers The Wind and The Wave and Suzanne Santo kicking off on August 17th at Orlando's The Social. All tickets are on-sale now. Album pre-orders are available on iTunes, Amazon, and all DSPs worldwide. (Press Release) Ruby Dee’s is a tale of unbelievable resilience and drive in the face of struggles that would foil someone with less determination. She is a singer, songwriter, bandleader, and cook as well as a traumatic brain injury survivor. Her band, Ruby Dee & the Snakehandlers make American music with rockabilly, swing, country and R&B inflections, and their latest album, Little Black Heart is a tour de force of exemplary musicianship. The album will be released July 22nd on Catty Town Records, a new imprint from a group of promoters devoted to American roots music. The band will celebrate the release with a show at the Continental Club in Austin on July 23rd, with a full Australian tour on the books for August. Ruby wrote every song on the album, with the exception of a Jack Scott chestnut that was a favorite of the band. This is amazing in itself, considering the aftermath of a terrible accident that left her with significant brain damage. Eight years ago, she was involved in a scooter accident that left her with sunglasses implanted in her forehead, a traumatic brain injury and other trauma. In previous years, aside from singing and writing songs for the Snakehandlers, she had owned and operated 3 restaurants in Seattle, quite successfully. Her trauma left her with vertigo, memory loss, nausea, mental confusion and language challenges. “I could picture an image in my mind, but couldn’t think of the word. I couldn’t finish thoughts or sentences or conversations, let alone write songs.” The Americana Music Association, in partnership with AEG Live Nashville, proudly announce the Road to AmericanaFest with Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats Monday, September 19 at the historically cool Ryman Auditorium. AmericanaFest registrants and Members of the not-for-profit music associaiton will receive a special pre-sale opportunity starting on Wednesday July 6 at 10am and ends on Thursday July 7 at 10PM NASHVILLE ROOTS-ROCK TRIO THE COAL MEN MINE LOST SOULS ON 'PUSHED TO THE SIDE,' RELEASING AUGUST 197/6/2016 Dave Coleman, Dave Ray and Paul Slivka examine life, loneliness on 12 atmospheric tracks, including one co-penned by Americana legend Bob Delevante NASHVILLE, Tenn. — As excited as Dave Colemanis about the August 19, 2016 release of Pushed to the Side (Vaskaleedez Records), the fifth full-length album by his Nashville roots-rock trio the Coal Men, he’s also harboring an unusual fear: that the story of “three solid dudes trying to make really honest, genuine music” isn’t sexy enough to pique journalists’ fancy. Please, Mr. Coleman, have a little faith. Truth is, there are plenty of angles here, including several in these excellent songs (which we shall explore in a bit, perhaps starting with the sad electric twang of “Faithless Eyes”). But it’s not as if the Coal Men’s history lacks for hooks. For starters, guitarist/vocalist Coleman and co-founding drummer/vocalist Dave Ray have been together 17 years; Coleman’s also played with artists including Matthew Ryan, Jessi Alexander and a young Taylor Swift. Bassist Paul Slivka, who joined five years ago, gained fame with Tommy Conwell & the Young Rumblers; he’s worked with Tony Joe White, Tommy Womack, Amanda Shires and Elizabeth Cook, among others. Most Tuesdays, he appears at the Family Wash with his wife, Cole, host of the “Short Sets” songwriter series. Coleman’s a regular.
