Austin, TEXAS (Press Release) – Missouri-based award-winning singer-songwriter Brad Cunningham and the Brad Cunningham Band are set to release their debut album, Every Inch of Texas, on June 17, 2016. The first single, “Goin’ To Texas,” hits radio this month, and regional touring is already in progress. Recorded at Oklahoma’s 115 Studio and produced by Grammy-nominated Wes Sharon (John Fullbright), Every Inch of Texas (distribution by Sony RED) is a 10-song collection of Red Dirt Texas Country songs written or co-written by Cunningham, a current finalist in Telluride Bluegrass Festival’s famed Telluride Troubadour Competition. Inspired by the renowned Davy Crockett quote, “Goin’ To Texas” catalogues the breakout journey of lovers running away from disapproval and into a new life together. The album’s title track was also Texas-inspired, according to Cunningham, who first heard the song’s title while listening to the radio while driving to a Texas football game. “I heard a politician say he was going to clean up ‘every inch of Texas,’” said the writer, who wrote down the line and soon worked out lyrics.
Other highlights include the driving “Whole Lotta Love to Find,” co-written by Cunningham and lead guitarist TJ Klein, and “Slow Down,” which features guest artists Turnpike Troubadours’ Ryan Engleman on pedal steel and producer Wes Sharon on bass. In addition to the Telluride Troubadour competition this month, Cunningham’s songs have earned him a Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Finalist (2015), a Rocky Mountain Folk Fest Songwriters Showcase Finalist (2015), and a three-time winner in the International Songwriting Competition (2012-2014). After graduating from Baylor University, Cunningham focused on a career in music. He quickly gained a reputation for his songwriting and live shows and has shared the stage with Billy Joe Shaver, Pat Green, Jason Boland & the Stranglers, and others. Brad Cunningham band members are Cunningham (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Klein (electric guitar, pedal steel), Kyle Day (bass), Drake Detwiler (drums) and Molly Healey (fiddle). 2016 Tour Dates include June 16-18 – 43rd Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Telluride, Colo.
