Riding the momentum from his recent studio record, A Hotel In Valdosta, Nashville underground favorite Charlie Bonnet III is back with a brand new single and music video, the feel-good summer jam titled 'Too Drive To Drunk.' The song, featuring Nashville hip hop pioneers Bubba Sparxxx and I4NI, is a party anthem that delivers a positive message against drinking and driving. "When writing for the new record, I wanted a track that would bring a serious message to the young audience, but without being preachy" says Bonnet. "My musical roots come from rock n roll and old country, but I wanted a crossover element. Kids these days are big time into hip hop music, so I needed some heavy hitters from that scene to make the track work. Bubba Sparxxx and the I4NI guys were amazing to work with, and they really knocked this thing out of the park" he states.
Spending a quarter century developing his writing and singing skills, Charlie Bonnet III has become an in-demand force in the Nashville scene, working with a variety of bands in various genres. Cutting his teeth in rock and metal bands early on, Bonnet gradually moved his career towards a more commercial path, releasing a series of Southern rock and country solo albums, before landing a gig in 2010 as lead guitarist for Warner Brothers recording artist, Big Smo. When that opportunity ran its course, Charlie co-founded a similar group called Moccasin Creek, who released a series of indie albums and singles before imploding in late 2014. Nashville indie label, Dammit Boy Entertainment, was quick to scoop him up, and the team immediately began working on A Hotel In Valdosta, Charlie's eighth solo offering. "I've always had the good fortune of having another door open up when one closes. This time I am completely focused on a solo career, and I've kicked the door off its hinges."
A Hotel In Valdosta is available now on iTunes.
