AUSTIN, TEXAS — With Chuck Shaw’s debut single release, traditional country music finds its newest champion. The golden-voiced singer/songwriter draws from multiple influences on “Burn That Oil,” with lyrics that celebrate friends and loves from years past, a driving dance-floor backbeat and a Lone Star feel with just a touch of Springsteen to recall Shaw’s New Jersey roots. “I’ve always loved songs that deal with teenage nostalgia,” Shaw says. “One of my favorite things to do is grab a few drinks with my high school and college buddies and reminisce about the good old days. I know people out there will be able to relate.” A proud Texas resident after years of growing up, working and playing music on the East Coast, in the mountains of Colorado, countless hours of performing in fabled Nashville honky-tonks and ranch work in Wyoming, Shaw channels his varied experiences into an old-school aesthetic built on a foundation of George Strait, Merle Haggard, George Jones and other country legends. “Burn That Oil” heralds the upcoming release of Shaw’s self-titled debut album, scheduled to release in February 2019.
