For the past 10 years, 27-year-old, LOLO, has been working to get to this point: Heard. She released her new EP Comeback Queen this past July on DCD2 Recordsabout which HillyDilly.com said, "Comeback Queen is about to hit you right in the heart with the most gut-wrenchingly good, heart-piercing vocals you've ever heard". Her story begun at the age of fifteen when after endlessly pestering her parents about pursuing a career in music, she successfully convinced her mother to move to Los Angeles. “I was writing every day non-stop,” she says. “Just to show them that I was dedicated. It was a huge risk.” Forced to return to their hometown in the outskirts of Memphis, LOLO’s mother left the young singer in L.A. living with close friend, Riley Keough and her mother, Lisa Marie Presley. At 18, LOLO landed a role in the Broadway musical Spring Awakening, originating the rebel character of Ilse, and relocating her to New York. “I had to play this bohemian chick that ran away,” she laughs. “I was like, well, that’s pretty true to life.” In 2010, LOLO, then going by her given name Lauren Pritchard, once again uprooted her life for her craft, moving to London thanks to a record deal offer from Universal/Island Records UK. Her debut album, Wasted In Jackson – a stunning album of southern soul and heartbreak – met with little commercial success and much critical praise.
Unwavering in her desire to succeed, LOLO traveled back to the U.S., heading to Brooklyn to work on her sound. Show after show and song after song, she realized something was missing – she couldn’t quite find herself. With newfound determination, LOLO moved back to Tennesee, and in a full circle moment, everything clicked. Reveling in her roots back at home, she discovered the voice she’d been dying to share. LOLO's voice has previously been heard on Fall Out Boy's hit single 'Centuries' as well as Panic! At the Disco's 'Miss Jackson'; and has gained the support of another powerhouse vocalist, Paramore's Hayley Williams. Adding some female flair to the roster, she'll be hitting the road as a special guest on Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness and New Politics' fall co-headline tour, alongside The Griswolds. Keeping Broadway close to her heart, a musical she co-wrote called Songbird will premiere off-Broadway at the 59E59 Theatre in New York City from October 20 - November 29th. I have never heard of LOLO before. It seems that she stopped midway during her career slump. I am just glad the she's back to her profession. I hope that she creates more music for her fans. She should be given the limelight soon enough, if she would continue releasing good music. I bid her good luck and hope she does well in the future.
