JD & The Straight Shot’s Good Luck And Good Night is due out on September 15th. NYC-based Americana outfit JD & The Straight Shot will release their sixth studio album, Good Luck And Good Night, on September 15th and TDC is pleased to give you a sneak peek at the album's artwork which represents the classic, acoustic recording. Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Jim Dolan (vocals, guitar), guitarist Marc Copely (guitar), Byron House (bass), Erin Slaver (violin/fiddle) and Shawn Pelton (percussion), Good Luck And Good Night blends Folk, Gospel, Blues, Rock and more in a collection that includes eight originals and two covers. Beginning with the foot-stomping tune of salvation "Redemption Train," the quintet segue into the Celtic-flair of the "Ballad of Jacob Marley" a fiddle and banjo driven tune about greed that features both Dolan and Slaver on lead vocals, the 70's inspired, spacious and romantic "Moonlight (where Dolan sounds like McCartney)," and the desolate feel of a love that cannot be fulfilled on “I Know, You Know, I Know.” From there, JD and his skilled musicians delve into the thoughtful and lively "Run For Me," following that with a well done rendition of the Three Dog Night classic "Shambala," a sweeping cover of the Eagles, "It's Your World Now," and the current, thoughtful title track, which features an unexpected, but welcome and touching, child chorus. Good Luck And Good Night is rounded out by the somber “Tonight” which touches on the terrors of domestic abuse and "Never Alone" which uses Maya Angelou's words to close out the collection on a hand clap filled, uplifting note. With precision sharp instrumentation, JD & The Straight Shot's acoustic Good Luck And Good Night finds the band expanding their lyricism via various topics and refining their sound into what is their best outing yet. Having previously hit the road with the Eagles, Keith Urban, the Dixie Chicks, and more, JD & The Straight Shot will be touring aggressively in support of Good Luck And Good Night.
