 Photo credit: LeAnn Mueller Nashville, TN (August 28, 2015) – Columbia Records’ country quintet Home Free is set to make a splash with the world premiere of their new track and music video, “Fishin’ in the Dark / Down in the Boondocks." The mashup combines Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s classic #1 hit “Fishin’ in the Dark” with Platinum-selling country group Little Big Town’s contemporary “Boondocks.” The song is featured on Home Free’s third studio album, COUNTRY EVOLUTION, due out on September 18.
“When we started brainstorming about what songs evoke the spirit we want to convey on our new album, we thought, what are some of country’s biggest hits? Why not ‘Fishin’ In The Dark’ with something more recent? Little Big Town’s ‘Boondocks’! You wouldn’t think the styles would really mesh, but they do,” said the band’s high tenor, Austin Brown. “We messed around with them for a few weeks and they’re great together. The video is a blast too! We can’t wait for everyone to check it out!” Directed by FifGen Film’s Reilly Zamber, McKenzie Zamber and Jimmy Bates, the music video splices both thematic and vintage-looking graphics creating a visually exciting pairing of the two hits. For Home Free it is important to reach out and interact with their fans through music videos. “It’s the biggest factor in reaching the fans,” said Brown in a recent interview with Roughstock. “It’s such a massive platform to be able to showcase what Home Free is all about.” COUNTRY EVOLUTION is now available for pre-order on iTunes, Amazon and all other major digital retailers. Music defines a person's personality and it is an expression of our feelings. I am a aspiring musician, myself and music has been my go to hobby. It has been the medium for releasing my stress and the tension inside my head. Listening to this was a great decision because it's really nice and very catchy! It won't not seem like noteworthy numbers, but rather this is with no radio hit , and from an acapella vocal gathering. Such an outfit is genuinely uncommon for nation, and in spite of the fact that obviously their records incorporate instrumentation, the concentration is especially on the craft of five-section male harmonies and related percussive systems. To all goals and purposes it shouldn't generally work, yet – to my own shock – it works impeccably. Of course, they have pop leanings like you may expect, yet they are identifiably nation and they convey a fresh out of the box new element to the shape that is irresistible and fiery. What I need to know, is with the musical and "transformative" center of late standard nation discharges, why is nobody giving careful consideration to these folks? I am not typically one for acapella, but rather I truly delighted in this record as something else and fun.
