HEAR: "Victims Of Comfort" NEW YORK, New York (September 2018) -- California country artist Jacki Stone shares her sublime re-imagining of Keb’ Mo’s “Victims Of Comfort”. In Stone’s interpretation, Keb’ Mo’ takes the production chair and gives the track an uplifting rearrangement with the addition of a tight rhythm section and shimmering electric guitar. Jacki’s smooth vocal style lends itself perfectly to the track, with her rich delivery breathing new life into the wistful lyrics. Jacki said that “Victims Of Comfort” was an easy choice for her “because Keb wrote words that I have always felt in my heart, and it speaks to those of us who deeply care about the state of the planet and humanity. In doing so, it gives us a simple, yet sometimes difficult to accept, answer in fixing it: looking inward and making the change in ourselves, so that we can all grow.” Jacki also raved about recording with Keb, “the process was incredible - the musicians were out of this world, and the experience of having Keb on the board while I recorded is one that I will remember and cherish forever.”. Keb has been a champion of Jacki since they first met; “I had the pleasure of working with Jacki Stone and she ain’t playin around” says Keb,“watch out world" he concludes. The track features on Jacki’s debut album Like Hell It’s Yours, which also features the Keb’ Mo’ production “Crazy Man”. Like Hell It’s Yours is built on Stone’s uniquely approachable manner of songwriting, a style that owes a debt to the formative influence of seeing Carole King perform on her Living Room tour when Jacki was nine years old. “That night, I realized that I wanted to be a songwriter as well as a singer,” Stone says. “Carole King is like the writer that I aspire to be.” In working towards this goal, Jacki collaborated closely with co-producer Michael Caplan (responsible for signing and developing The Allman Brothers, Keb’ Mo’, Los Lonely Boys and more) to hone this intimate vision.
Jacki’s songcraft is built upon a raw honesty that deftly navigates life’s complexities. As an eating disorder survivor and recovering alcoholic herself, Stone is evangelical about the importance of healing, hope and compassion. “When we heal ourselves…we help [others] heal,” she says. “I feel that music, in so many ways, can help…Whether that’s a teenager listening to the radio because it’s the only sanity he has, or someone in recovery from an addiction and they have that one song that can keep them from relapsing.” The track “This Side Of Blue” sits at the album’s core and expounds this central message by exploring recovery, acceptance, and self-realization. With this depth of soul-searching it is clear that Jacki Stone is not just a singer with a country sound. She embodies the spirit of the genre and the heritage of the land around her. Her ‘California Country’ is humble, healing, honest, and raw. jackistonemusic.com facebook.com/jackistonemusic twitter.com/jackistonemusic instagram.com/jackistonemusic
