Jada Vance considers her new single, “Rear View Revival,” something of a personal anthem. The singer/songwriter has been through a rough spell these past few years, from bullying in high school, bad relationships and her father’s shocking suicide due to drug abuse. Although “Rear View Revival” is not specifically about those issues, it is her way of dealing with the past in a positive way. “It talks about putting your hands in the air and leaving the bad stuff behind,” Vance said. “I’ve had to hit my knees several times and pray to God that he will help me move forward.” “Rear View Revival” is the title track from Vance’s new EP, due for release on October 19. The songs, she promises, will be uplifting, even if they were inspired by bad times.
Vance’s first major experience as a singer was on Season 12 of “American Idol” at age 16. She did not make it to the finals, but the show taught her two things: how little she knew about the music business, and the fact that she wanted to be a professional singer for the rest of her life “Before ‘Idol,’ most of my singing was just karaoke, but seeing how hard the other contestants worked opened my eyes to what it takes to be successful,” she said. “I learned about stage presence and the importance of songwriting and having the right team of people working with you.” Since then, Vance has spent a lot of time cowriting with other artists in Nashville like Megan Golden and Mark Narmore, performing as much as possible, and releasing three previous singles. However, she considers Rear View Revival to be among her best and most personal. “This is me, putting my life out in front of the public, moving forward and growing instead of dwelling on the past.” “Rear View Revival” is available on iTunes, Google Play Music, Spotify and other digital platforms.
