Portion of Song Proceeds will Benefit The Alliance for Children’s Rights (Los Angeles, CA) –California Country/Rock band, Mustangs of the West, are ready to celebrate the Holidays with their new, original song, “Everybody Wants Peace on Earth,” set for release today (November 16, 2018). Written by band members Sherry Rayn Barnett, Holly Montgomery and Suzanna Spring, the song reminds us that peace begins at home, one voice can make a difference, and Love still has the greatest reach. In the spirit of John Lennon and Yoko Ono's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)", “Everybody Wants Peace on Earth” is destined to become a new original traditional. This Holiday song not only means a lot to the Mustangs of the West because it is the best time of the year, but because this song celebrates the holiday spirit of giving to others. “Everybody Wants Peace on Earth” is one of five original songs from Blue Élan artists that will be highlighted this holiday season by partnering up with one of the most worthwhile children’s charities. Together with Blue Élan Records, a portion of each download, stream or purchase of this song will benefit The Alliance for Children’s Rights, an organization that protects the rights of impoverished, abused and neglected young people. By providing free legal services, advocacy, and programs that create pathways to jobs and education, the Alliance levels the playing field and ensures that children who experience foster care are able to fulfill their potential. Holly Montgomery, bass player, opened her heart in stating how much this charity means to her. She herself has three adopted children and understands just how little say children have in their place within the legal system. She wants to help shed light on the work that The Alliance for Children’s Rights has done; the charity is responsible for almost one third of adoptions in Los Angeles and continues to give children safe, healthy and productive environments in which to learn and grow. Mustangs of the West reunited earlier this year and released “T-Shirt From California” in August after signing with Blue Élan Records. The Mustangs were an integral part of the budding Los Angeles 80’s and 90’s alt-country scene, regularly playing The Palomino, opening for Rosie Flores, Jim Lauderdale and Lucinda Williams. An all-female country band, they were an anomaly on the scene and their career paralleled that of the early Dixie Chicks. As band founder Sherry Rayn Barnett reminisced to Bliss Bowen of The Pasadena Weekly, “We were on a lot of the same bills just before the Dixie Chicks broke. We’d be there one week and they’d be there the next.” After seven years of gigging and touring extensively, the band broke up in the mid 90s and eventually scattered to various cities. Twenty years later, the Mustangs are back with a name change (Mustangs of the West) and three of the original members, Sherry Rayn Barnett (electric guitar, vocals), Suzanna Spring (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), and Holly Montgomery (bass, vocals). They’ve also added Suzanne Morissette (drums, vocals) and Aubrey Richmond (fiddle, vocals) to make the fully rounded quintet. Featuring gorgeous three- and four-part vocal harmonies, the chemistry of their voices and instruments creates a powerful sound that draws on both country and rock influences.
