CALGARY, AB, Canada — There are those artists who claim an affinity for their musical roots, but then reinvent them in ways that have scant bearing on the past. Others identify with the heartland but have no genuine stake in the actual environs. So when an artist like Corb Lund comes along and shares honesty and authenticity in a way that melds past with present, it’s indeed worthy of notice. That’s the connection Lund carries with him as he embarks on a tour that takes him to nearly three dozen markets mostly in the Western U.S. early next year. Most of those stops will be in places where he finds there is common ground, both literally and spiritually. “I feel a deep bond and shared roots with the audiences I perform for, especially out West,” Lund says. “Coming from a multi-generational ranching family from Alberta, Canada, and Utah before that, I relate closely to cowboy culture and its authenticity. It’s a part of the U.S. I especially enjoy touring as I feel very at home there.”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Genre-bending band Whiskey Myers have built a loyal following through hits like "Stone" and their hard-rocking live shows. With both Jeff Hogg and Tony Kent on separate percussion sets simultaneously driving the rhythm for frontman Cody Cannon, the indie band heads overseas for their 2019 Die Rockin’ Tour. Launching January 25 in Nashville, Tennessee, the Die Rockin’ Tour follows a string of sell outs for the band Esquire calls “the real damn deal” and Playboy praises as “the new bad boys of country music.” In the last 15 months alone, Whiskey Myers have sold out more than 115 headlining shows, with several more sellouts on the way through the end of 2018. November 15, 2018 -- Nashville outlaw country rocker Boo Ray has announced a February 15th release for his latest LP Tennessee Alabama Fireworks, and has shared the lead single "A Tune You Can Whistle" at Wide Open Country. The outlet praised Ray's return to the fold succinctly, saying "Boo Ray is back with a bang." Black mirrors and social feeds have damaged our ability to connect on a deeply meaningful level. Outlaw guitar-slinger Boo Ray delves deeply into the dire state of communication in the modern world with his new record, Tennessee Alabama Fireworks. The album, in his own words, explores the “nitty-gritty, guts and ugly parts of the human experience.” These songs creep into the brain with his most poignant lyrics to-date. Ray is every bit a hard-boiled poet as many of the pioneers that came before him, from the likes of Jerry Reed to Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. Ray fervently draws upon the difficulties and hurdles that make the world such a treacherous environment. Carrying over some of the same subject matter as 2016’s Sea of Lights, Ray dives headfirst into even more vulnerable territory as he wrangles themes of heartache, reopened wounds, and swallowing his pride. With “A Tune You Can Whistle,” a raucous honky-tonk boogie that is as shiny as it is melancholic, he laments about “one nation under the influence” of computer screens that have cast our humanity into a shroud of anxiety and detachment. Asheville, North Carolina (November 9, 2018) – With honest, heartfelt songwriting and an unmistakable sound, Asheville-based Tellico has crafted Woven Waters, an album that blends the group’s bluegrass sensibilities with British Isles influences, creating an eclectic collection of poignant folk songs. The album is available now from Organic Records. The group worked with noted Irish musician and producer John Doyleand Grammy-nominated engineer David Arnold, to record Woven Waters in Johnson City, Tennessee. With Doyle’s guidance, Tellico created and recorded arrangements in the studio. The practice brought the group to open, uncharted territory in their musical landscape. There, they built on their distinctive core sound and found a new level of awareness to texture and melody. Augmented by Doyle’s contribution on bouzouki, the chord choices and rhythmic dynamics intertwine to create a sense of weaving the natural flow of each song’s intent, inspiring the album’s title. BREAKING: Uncle Walt’s Band nominated for the Austin Music Hall of Fame 2018 in Austin Music Awards AUSTIN, Texas — “Walter Hyatt, David Ball and Champ Hood have been an inspiration to me ever since the first time I heard Uncle Walt’s Band,” says Lyle Lovett, a journalism student at Texas A&M University when he first heard the band. “Musically, their finely crafted original compositions reflect diverse influences, while lyrically they demonstrate a sensitive, sophisticated understanding of the dignified South.” Uncle Walt’s Band, originally from Spartanburg, S.C., was an eclectic music trio that moved to Nashville in 1972 and, shortly thereafter, to Austin at the urging of singer/songwriter Willis Alan Ramsey. An attempt at an album with Ramsey at the helm was unsuccessful, so the band headed back to Spartanburg in 1974 to produce their own debut LP, Blame It on the Bossa Nova. The original self-released vinyl edition —1,000 copies sold through performances and self-promotion — disappeared quickly. Heat was gaining for the band, so they headed back down to Austin with a reissue of the album, simply titled Uncle Walt’s Band.(Original Blame It on the Bossa Nova LPs change hands for hundreds of dollars these days.) His new slab of smoldering chords and sky-scraping melodies, due February 22, 2019 on Portland-based Fluff & Gravy Records, follows this year’s genre-splitting 2-CD Selective Memories: An Anthology The Vinyl District premiered a track LOS ANGELES, Calif. — A souped-up Corvette Stingray cruises Van Nuys Blvd., its occupants looking for all the cheap thrills and good times 1978 has to offer, only to find a barren, bland modern wasteland of 2018 blighted with strip malls, bail bonds and tech advertisements. The image of a random East Hollywood wall where so many posters, bills and flyers have lived and died that it now resembles nothing less than a minimalist modern-art collage covered in city filth. The flickering memory of being lured into a dark, noisy club circa 1988 by a wayward girl you’re in love with, only she’s in love with the drummer and suddenly you’ve stumbled into something else entirely: the world of rock ’n’ roll. Brandy Zdan has released a live version of her song “Wild Fire” out on all platforms today. To accompany the track is a live video shot in one take in her hometown of Nashville by Joshua Shoemaker (Alabama Shakes, Margo Price, Hurray for the Riff Raff), watch it HERE. Working with Shoemaker on the video was incredibly exciting for Zdan. “I’ve been a fan of Joshua Shoemaker’s work for quite some time so I was excited when he reached out to me about shooting a live performance video. It was a no brainer letting him take the reigns as our aesthetic and color palette were a perfect match,” she says. This track is originally from her sophomore record Secretear released earlier this year that Relix Magazine described as “riff-laden burners and mindful pop ballads [that] shine with emotional resolve and permanence.” Co-produced by Zdan and Teddy Morgan, she also recruited My Morning Jacket's Tom Blankenship and Carl Broemel to play with her on the record. The 7” includes two new songs, “The Way She Looked At You” b/w “Devil May Care,” that were recorded at Manifold Recording in Pittsboro, NC during the same session that produced Years. Apple Music is currently featuring the digital release in exclusivity (LINK) until December 4th, when it will be released on all other digital platforms. Physical copies are available now at Bloodshotrecords.com (LINK). The band also announced newly confirmed U.S. tour dates in January, February, and March, and a couple solo dates for Sarah in Mexico.
