Watch "Dead Man's Shoes" Video HERE JUNE 8, 2017 - BROOKLYN, NY - Folk-punk/Americana singer songwriter Rue Snider released the second video from his album Broken Window today for the joyful, high energy, Americana track “Dead Man’s Shoes" which was shot at the Brooklyn Half Marathon. His previous video about isolation, “Crowd Into Trains,” was released late last year. “Dead Man’s Shoes” is a song about ambition, momentum, and living exuberantly in the moment. The Brooklyn Half Marathon with 27,440 finishers, that New York Road Runners calls “the largest half marathon in the country,” is a fitting metaphor for the themes of the song. The enormous event saw both seasoned pros and first-timers crowd onto Eastern Parkway to make the 13 mile trip through Prospect Park to Coney Island. A skeleton crew equipped with iPhones was there to capture the action for the video. “Although this song has an ominous title it’s very hopeful,” says Rue. “I wanted to make a video showing people doing something awesome for themselves. It seems to me like a race is more a competition with yourself than anything. The song talks about change and moving forward and athletes demonstrate that better than words a lot of the time.” Rue Snider has toured America extensively for three and a half years in support of his full length albums Broken Window and Leaving To Returning, and EP releases Speak My Mind, The New New Colossus, Never Met A Girl I Didn’t Love, and Losing Her. He has made appearances at SXSW (2016 and 2017) and Folk Alliance International (2016 and 2017). He is currently in Brooklyn preparing to record a new record in September at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville, TN.
Rue will be performing shows as part of a summer residency at Pete’s Candy Store in Brooklyn. The remaining shows are Saturday July 8 and Saturday August 5. Both shows are at 11:00PM.
