Scott Stevens, one of country music’s fast-rising singer/songwriters, is quickly making his presence known in the Nashville community. He just released his official music video for his upcoming single, Don’t Fight Fair. The video, which was shot at Catch This Music recording studio on Music Row in Nashville, was shot by Dustin Hensley and produced by Stevens himself. “I shot all this on my iPhone the day we wrote the song,” says Stevens. “I thought the concept of a making-of/behind-the-scenes type would be really cool to show my fans. And the rest is history! The video can now be seen on his YouTube channel as well as other cable spotlight channels.
This upbeat tune, which is full of catchy rhythms and relatable, sexy charasmic lyrics are sure to get fans singing along. The song talks about the all too familiar theme of women charming their way out of lovers’ quarrels. “The idea for this song came to me while I was jogging around Nashville daydreaming about how damn cute my wife is, even though we had a little disagreement the night before,” says Stevens. “I thought ‘that’s really not fair,’ but ultimately decided that whatever we had disagreed on didn’t really matter. I thought ‘she knows she has me wrapped around her finger… and that I love it.’ And bam, there was the song hook.” Don’t Fight Fair was written by Stevens, along with Ben Goldsmith (co-writer of Jerrod Niemann’s Blue Bandana) and newcomer Alysa Vanderheym. It will be off his upcoming album, expected to be released late 2016. Scott Stevens is no stranger to music. This Knoxville, Tennessee native grew up surrounded not just by country music, but by a talented family. With a high school passion to make it to the NBA and after breaking his arm and leg while snowboarding, he was forced to turn to other interests. He picked up a guitar and began to write songs, eventually entering and winning a songwriting competition. With a passion for performing and recording music, his debut independent EP garnered over 7,000 downloads and 26,000 streams within just three months. With musical influences of the rich storytelling of Tim McGraw, the listenable grooves of Keith Urban and the rock and roll energy of Bruce Springsteen, Stevens brings his own “rock solid melodies that get stuck in your head, and lyrics that resonate with more than just me – that reach out and touch people,” he says. Currently, he is making stops between California and Connecticut, with a heavy focus in the Southeast as well as a performance in Nashville during CMA Music Festival 2016.
