Austin singer-songwriter Christina Cavazos was just 16 when she released her first EP, About You. She followed it up a year later with Cold, an alluring collection that drew high praise from the Austin American-Statesman's Peter Blackstock, who called Cavazos “not just a future name to watch, but a captivating singer-songwriter who has already arrived.” This coming May, Cavazos will release her new EP, Mile Marker, an all original, six-song project, produced by Charlie Magnone, that finds Cavazos confidently carving out territory as a young adult who is about to embrace her future.
Today, TDC is thrilled to premiere one of the EP's cuts, "Forever." A stunning, dreamy ballad, "Forever", with it's tender lyricism and enveloping melody, magically transports you to that hopefully romantic place with the "one", where love lives eternal. "So show me the way to fall back in love I know it's gonna happen someday and it won't be no one but us, no one but us Yes, I believe that there is a future and I think I'm gonna spend it by your side"
Cavazos relays the story behind the song, "I wrote "Forever" in the backseat of my car in the middle of April 2017. It was one of those moments where the melody came to me pretty instantly and there was nowhere else I could go. I had met someone that I was just 100% sure I was going to spend the rest of my life with. In reality, I think I stopped talking to that person maybe about a month after I wrote this song. But that idea of finding something that feels like it could last ‘forever' was the driving force behind this song and a couple other songs on Mile Marker."
Listen to, and share, "Forever" above. Cavazos has performed at some of Texas' most celebrated venues, including Austin’s iconic Cactus Cafe, Antone's and Threadgill’s, and McGonigel's Mucky Duck in Houston. A live version of Mile Marker’s title track was selected as a KUTX Song of the Day, as was “Over Me,” from Cold. A two-time Old Settler’s Music Festival Youth Talent Competition finalist, Cavazos’ expanding list of accolades and accomplishments also includes a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music’s 2016 summer program in Boston. Along with the release of her EP and graduating from Austin’s School for Performing and Visual Arts, Cavazos heads to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts’ Clive Davis Institute for Recorded Music in fall 2018.
