Song Premiere: Jesse Terry, Michael Logen and Lizanne Knott Share "Ring of Fire"

​Releasing November 30th, Sunset Avenue Sessions, combines the award-winning talents of singer-songwriters Michael Logen, Lizanne Knott, and Jesse Terry, with each artist trading off vocal duties with an easy feeling of camaraderie on eleven tracks which include originals as well as carefully selected covers.

While the three are separate in their sound and focus, the decision to record as a trio bounded directly from their years of friendship and the many shows they’ve played together. “Working with Lizanne and Michael always inspires me, stretches me out musically and makes me want to explore new roads in my own songwriting, Terry explains. “We're all very different artists, but there is a great synergy when we come together.”

The choice of covers included on the album is an invitation into the American songbook exposing to fans their wide range of influences and interests across genres. Lead track “Learning to Fly,” by the late Tom Petty, is a favorite of the three, and they deliver a bright, airy, acoustic-based homage, with Logen and Terry weaving their distinctive voices around Knott’s  ethereal lead. Knott also takes the lead on another Petty selection, “Wildflowers" while Logen returns with a rendering of Buffalo Springfield’s “For What it’s Worth,” and leads in the haunting, intimate duet with Knott on P!nk’s mournful “Try.”

Terry takes the lead on the late, great Johnny Cash classic "Ring of Fire." which TDC is thrilled to premiere for you today. The rootsy take on the timeless tune is led by Terry's warm and ethereal vocals, a serene acoustic guitar, and Knott and Logen's seamless harmonies creating a rendition beautifully unique, utterly flawless and profoundly sincere.

Terry says of the choice to put their stamp on "Ring of Fire," "I’ve always loved playing “Ring of Fire” live. It never gets old for me; truly a timeless classic. It’s a passionate, primal and haunting song, complete with a perfectly sublime melody. It was a blast to record our own version and that's the mark of a truly great song - when it still feels flawless after being stripped down to a simple, organic arrangement. We all have very different voices, but I think there is a special harmony blend that is created when we sing together. That's the kind of thing that can't be planned out or predicted. It feels very natural and effortless to sing with Michael and Lizanne."
