One of our favorite independent artists whose music we have gotten to know through Twitter, Steven Clawson, released a holiday single back in November. You can read about the single below, written in his own words.
Hi I’m Steven Clawson and I wanted to share with you a project I’m working on to raise awareness and encourage financial support of the important work done by the awesome team at the Second Harvest Food Bank. Just a little background, I’m a singer songwriter from Thomasville GA who moved to Nashville to pursue my dream of becoming a performer. I graduated from Belmont Univ. in 2004 and have spent the past 10 years honing my craft. I’ve had the privilege of working with some incredibly talented people and I’ve been blessed with a wonderful circle of family, friends and fans who encourage and support me.
Several years ago I was selected as a contestant on a reality TV series – CMT Next Superstar. It was a terrific opportunity to grow as an artist, learn about the music industry and make some wonderful friends as we faced a series of weekly challenges. I was left with many wonderful memories including the day we spent working alongside and later entertaining the Second Harvest Food Bank volunteers - what a special team working for a great cause. I knew in my heart as I left that place that a seed had been planted and I would seek out other opportunities to show my support for them and their efforts to help those among us in need.
“This Time Each Year” is a song near and dear to my heart written several years ago…… It tells the story of folks that have lost much, but still endure - aided by the love and support of caring people in their lives. With the help of some really talented and generous musician friends, I recently went into the studio and created this labor of love to share as a reminder of the importance of reaching out and supporting everyone in need “this time each year”.
The single is available at all online digital retailers.
