Emerging group The Barefoot Movement was just awarded the Momentum Award at the 25th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards which was held in Raleigh, North Carolina yesterday. “We are humbled and honored that IBMA chose to recognize us as “Band of the Year” in their Momentum Awards category. Someone told us recently that the only way to survive in the music industry is to get used to disappointment. We think that’s something anyone trying to make it can relate to. Being included, even just as a nominee among these talented performers helps us know that we’re doing something right. It’s a great triumph over many trials. Sincere thanks to all of our supporters out there,” the band said. The Momentum Awards focus on artists and business people who are in the early stages of their careers in Bluegrass music. The Barefoot Movement opened dates for the Milk Carton Kids last year, were runner’s up at Telluride for “Best New Band,” and have been touring non-stop across the country. Their CD Figures of the Year included a remake of Blind Melon’s “No Rain” which garnered a lot of attention. Their new EP The High Road are Traditional tunes that are fan favorites. www.barefoot-movement.com Follow them on Twitter Find them on Facebook
